  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm looking at a 2012/2013 Genesis R-Spec.

My understanding is that they can play DVDs while stopped. Is it possible to continue DVD playback while driving.

Also, can the entertainment system play video files off an SD card or the internal HDD?

Thanks!

You can get into big trouble if caught playing video while driving.
I burned some concert videos on DVD's and just listen to them while driving. If I'm sitting for any length of time, I'll watch them.

Nothing there for 15 sedan :(

Unfortunately, this is what we get every time this subject comes up - lecture on "what I do" or "it's ILLEGAL!". I had the same question with my 2012 Genny, and found a company called "Video In Motion" that I purchased a kit and self-installed. My wife is now able to play DVDs while we are driving - and I don't bother 'watching' a video while driving. It does not interest me while driving as I have other things to do. ANyways, I installed the kit over three years ago and it did cost about $300 if I remember correctly. It's a tight fit up there behind the head unit.

I know all about the rules and I can tell you that I've had MORE trouble trying to fiddlefart with the XM or the damn NAV system on this car than I ever had had with a DVD playing while my wife is watching it.
