  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

With the TCU disconnected the engine will not rev higher than ~3000rpm.

What it's the ECU/PCM looking for from the TCU to function properly?

I'm not sure how the ecu and tcu communicate on these cars but if it's by a datalink signal then it's not something you can replicate easily to 'trick' the ecu into thinking it's there. I would imagine it's not like the old school stuff that looks for a few sensor signals and it's good to go, it's much more complicated i'd guess.

What are you trying to accomplish with running no tcu?

Manual swap.

Manual swap of which ECU/TCU? Actually since the ECU from the 2017 and beyond has never been hacked by anyone including reputable tuners, I think it might be near impossible to do what you're attempting to do.

2012 R-Spec
Don't want to go full standalone until my M112 adapters are done.

Update:
Stumbled across a DTC U0100 code
References "Lost communication with PCM/ECM"

Lists failsafe as:
- engine speed 3000 rpm
- throttle 50%
- engine torque max 0.7*

Conditions:
-time after tcm turns on >0.5 sec
-battery voltage >10v
-input speed >400rpm

So I am guessing that the TCM has to remain connected to the PCM and remain powered up to not drop into limp mode.

Now whether or not it looks for data from the transmission sensors via the TCU based off of engine RPM is another ball game altogether.

If I can figure out a work around for the TCU the rest is cake.

Already have the rest of the goodies needed for the swap, the TCU solution and time are the only things that I'm lacking.
