I am currently in Dallas, but from El Paso. Looks like I'll be getting a coupe when the come out. Maybe by this summer I'll have one.

I work at a hyundai dealer in San Antonio and we are going to be getting the coupes in at the end of this month they are going to start at $22,750 for the 2.0 turbo and go up to $31,750 for the fully loaded Track edition 3.8!!!

My wife used to live right under the "A", San Marcial Street, and later moved to Elkton Way, near Railroad Drive. Up until a couple years ago, we would visit friends on Hercules. BTW, Whenever I drive out to Phoenix, I always make a slight detour in
El Paso to drive over Trans Mountain Road. Nothing like that in Florida. (Will be driving the Genesis to Phoenix in April, then will stop off in Roswell for a while, before returning to Florida in May [then to Western NY for a while in June]).

Although I mostly live in Florida, I am in Roswell NM often, and just for the heck of it, I looked up Roswell Hyundai, just to see what they had in stock. Those guys got to be crazy. They bumped up the price of the Genesis V6 to over $45,000. They are right next door to Roswell Toyota, so when you want Hyundai Service, you have to bring it to the Toyota Service Department. Judging by their Sales Department prices, I don't think I will take it there for and oil change or any service, other than an emergency.

How much longer are you going to be in Japan for DJ? It seems like you have been over there forever. BTW can you overnight me parts from Japan for my 10 second Supra I'm working on? I had my Eclipse blow it's manifold in a race with 3 other people. I had two of the big bottles but I used my NOS too early. What a shame

Yesterday, I telephoned Roswell Hyundai Service Department to find out what their price is for an oil and filter change. At first I was told "$28.95 plus tax and shop supplies". I then asked how much total with tax and "shop supplies". Was then told it would total out at $38.95. I then phoned my selling dealer, Orlando Hyundai and asked them for the price. Quoted $26.95. I then asked how much total with tax, etc. With tax, $28.70. Thats total. $28.70. Then just for the heck of it, I called my closest Hyundai dealer in Leesburg FL, asking the same question. Their quote was 38.95 (plus tax - don't know about shop supplies). Needless to say, I will always be using my selling dealer, Orlando Hyundai at $28.70 total. Will get them to change oil and filter a couple days before I leave in April for El Paso, Phoenix and Roswell and again on my return to Florida, as I will be leaving in May for Penfield (Rochester) for a while.

and i ship a bunch of subaru parts that i find in the junk yard... i've looked for Supra parts but they are expensive..

No, you can get your oil change anywhere you want. The advantage of getting it at a dealer is that both the dealer, and Hyundai (through the dealers computer) will have a record of it, plus the dealer techs will check things that other places don't know need to be checked. In addition, with a dealer, you will get a Hyundai Oil Filter. If you go to your local "Quick Lube" you don't know what you will get for an oil filter. Also, at your local "Quick Lube" place, I don't trust the kid working for minimum wage, changing the oil and filter on my car. In addition, I've seen them making errors with the grade of oil and I've had to correct them. A dealer will not make these errors. If you have to go to a Quick Lube place, do not let them use 'bulk oil' out of a hose, but rather have them use oil out of a bottle. (this is true at dealers also). The reason is that (1) you don't know what the bulk oil is, at the quick lube place (or dealer) plus they can,and will, tell you anything, and also, (2) even the quick lube place (or dealer) does not know what is in the bulk oil as he has to take the word of his jobber.

Lastly, if you have a favorate oil (synthetic [Group IV Synthetics in my case]), you can have the dealer use the oil you supply, at a reduced price. I always tell them that I will pay for a factory filter and your labor, but you use my oil. Also make sure the correct weight is documented on the repair order and recept.

With my 02 Continental, I get it done at my local Ford Dealer, and I supply my own
Mobil-1 0W-40 (which meets the latest Mercedes specs). Ford dealer charges me anywhere from $14 to $19 to do the job.

Will do my first 09 Genesis oil change three weeks from now, and to keep the warranty good, will use either Pennsoil Platinum 5W-20 or Q-TorquePower 5W-30. Have not decided yet. (don't matter much as both Pennsoil and Quaker State are the same company, using the same refinery, identical bottles, same oil, different name). I'd rather use the Mobil-1 0W-40 or even the Castrol Syntec 0W-30 (made in Germany) but because the owners manual does not include these weights, and because I want to keep the warranty good, I will use the first two mentioned. Have not yet asked them how much they will charge, but if they don't give me a discount, I will just use their oil then find somewhere else to get it changed, after I return from my trip in April.
