  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It's a LOT faster than Genesis claims (4.9 seconds).

In these two test it's 4.2-4.4 seconds to 100 km in Sport mode (on a full battery), which means it's capable of going to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat. This smokes the 3.5T and can go toe-to-toe with an E53 AMG.

If I wanted a dragster or race car, I’d have bought one.

Sounds about right.

If the automaker states a specific 0-60mph time; then the car is usually faster in real world driving, because I have noticed that automakers will post slower acceleration times that can be usually obtained(or surpassed) by owners who may test the claimed performance of the vehicle. Most people seem to be happier with a car that is faster than an officially published performance number from an automaker than having a slower one.:)

The hybrid model is very very quick it seems. However, most people that buys the hybrid model will never drag race it around town. Plus, it probably handles like crap compared to a true sport sedans like the E53 AMG; even if it can hang with it in a straight line race. The E53 AMG will probably leave it in the dust at the first curve in the road.

Usually not to that extent. Genesis lists the official 0-60 time of the 3.5T w/ AWD as 5.1 seconds, and most publications got that number or only .1-.2 seconds faster at most. By comparison, this EV (not hybrid) outruns its listed time by almost a full second.

An E53 will probably out-handle it but it is by no means a "true sports sedan" anymore, that's the E63. E53 only has a tuned version of the I6 and some minor tweaks to the suspension. It would flounder on a track too.

LOL. My mistake. I was actually thinking about the E63 AMG. The E53 AMG is not the "true" sports sedan I had in mind. The E53 probably does not handle any better "if not worst" than the Genesis hybrid.

According to Car and Driver; Mercedes claims the E53 can do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. However, Car and Driver was able to do it in 4 seconds flat in their testing. Therefore, I will wait for Car and Driver offical testing of the G80 electric performance to see what an offical 0-60 number will be.

The guys in the videos could have been going down hill or a downward sloping road in the G80 hybrid test; which would shave some time off the acceleration numbers.

I don't think so. The two videos were filmed months apart by different people and both channels test a bunch of cars, so I think they're credible enough. Of course, we won't know for sure how the North American version performs until it gets here, because it might be tuned differently.

This is another test from one of the more reputable and subscribed Korean auto channels, and they claim in their description that on 50% charge it took them 4.3 seconds to 100 km.

I just hope that with that level of acceleration, Genesis makes some minor tweaks to the suspension to make it handle better rather than treating it like a muscle car (more power and nothing else).

Hey believe what you want. The videos do not really sway me because of the unknowns. All I see is an instrument cluster on the actual acceleration runs; so the G80 hybrid could be going up hill or down hill. I will wait for an Car and Driver track test.

The G80 hybrid will probably not get any performance sport tuning.

Australian review did another test: 0-100 (62mph) in 4.36 seconds, and that's without a "Boost Mode" like the electric GV70 and GV60.

This sucker is fast.

Here you go: 0-60 in 4.1 seconds.
