Last night my wife and I decided to go out for the evening. While I waited for her to get ready, I made a playlist of stuff I thought she'd like (hey, it's always better to find something to do during that time than to complain about her getting ready, especially if she's taking the time to look nice for you). So time passed and we're finally ready to depart. This is her first time riding in my new car (she's sat in it before but we hadn't gone for a ride yet). I plugged in the phone to get the better sound quality and what comes up?
Birds. Birds from the Natural Sound menu. I mean these are high-fidelity birds with surround-sound, but they're still... birds. One day last week I put it on when driving to work because I didn't feel like station-hopping, I didn't want a playlist,, and I just wanted something peaceful to think to on my way to work. I somehow stumbled upon the natural sound and thought, "Perfect. Something I can think to."
..except last night with the full attentiveness of a hot chick in my car (face it, that's what most of us want anyway.. hot chick in your tight ride on a date where you get to be seen with her and know that you're the one taking her home), I didn't remember how I found the natural sounds menu in the first place. I kept hitting the Spotify button and it showed it was playing, but what I was hearing over the sound system was wonderfully articulated... birds.
I switched to XM and they've been having all these greatest hits countdowns from the 80s, 90s, 2000s, so I switched to one of those and she was good with that. On the way home she's passed out from multiple "sex on the beach"es so she didn't even notice.
This morning I made it a point of figuring out how I switched in and out of the natural sounds mode (hint: just keep hitting the media button repeatedly).
