  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I love the current Genesis commercial with the kid ogling the pretty girl.

On my very first drive home yesterday with my new 3.8 Ultimate, a stake truck blew a transmission in front of me on an on-ramp and screeched to a sudden stop with smoke billowing from the rear tires. I was in cruise control with 3 bar following distance at 60 mph. The car slammed on the brakes before I could even react. First thing I thought of was that commercial.

It’s great when technology is really beneficial and works.

My wife has been questioning if this actually works but is too afraid to REALLY test it out.

I told her she will know when it happens...

just rember it does not take the place of your foot on brake. :D

it does i love it. i just hope no one tries to find out if it will completely stop the from impact. because its not called "emergency braking" its adaptive cruise control.

oh well i see. let me know when you have trusted it enough to test it out. :screwy:

i guess my 13 only has brake assist.:(

I'm the OP and I had looked at the manual to get a correct name for the feature when I made the original post.

I don't know whether the feature would have stopped me entirely in my situation, but the car had the brakes on hard before I could get my foot on the pedal. I had no way to predict a failure such as happened in front of me.

my 13 has saved me a couple times as well.

I don't think that'll be happening any time soon.
Probably never!

I think the dealers should put up a safe barrier, something like plastic or cardboard with foil to reflect the radar, and let the buyers try it at slow speed. It could sell some vehicles for them.

In the mean time, I had my test on the drive home and I'm glad it was there for me.

Went to the local Mercedes dealer near me where we buy our cars (Mercs and Nissans) and I asked the salesperson if I could test it out on the MB, he quickly dismissed the option. So I walked away right then.

I agree, it would help them sell cars, but the dealers do not even trust it.

I just finished insuring my new 3.8 on the USAA site. It was almost $20 a month less even though the cost of the new car was well above that of my previous 2009 Gennie V-8. I used the savings to lower my deductibles from $500 to $200. It's obvious that USAA likes the new safety features.
