I was sitting in the driveway this afternoon with nothing better to do than poke around a few minutes in various places in the infotainment system & noticed that I could connect to the home WiFi... Is there really any need for this, since the onboard "App Store" seems to be devoid of any downloadable content? Or is it just a semi-creative way to drain the battery?

Bored in Houston....
 
What can the wifi connection be used for if there are no apps available? Stream content?

Nothing. There was one app you could DL but I think it is there for potential dealer use.

I think you can still download the geofencing app for the mobile app to work.
