  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sooo, Friday afternoon 2 weeks after making my final payment on our 2016 Genesis she decided to give me trouble, died in the middle of a parking lot in sunny Phx. Az .
115 degree,….. was able to get it restarted and running long enough to limp it to my dealer several miles away where we Dropped her off knowing their not going to even be able to look at it til at least Monday. Received the message a possible condition has been ,detected with your engine control system ….Hmmmm?
anyone had this problem in the past, curious if it a major issue or a hopefully a minor one, according to my service writer I’m still under warranty so that a relief but it’s my very first ever problem with my Genesis so am curious as to the seriousness of this problem…

That's unfortunate.
Can't advise since we don't know if there were error codes or pre symptoms. It could be anything from bad injectors to faulty pistons or could be a simple thing. Codes will tell.

Need codes to even begin to tell the seriousness of the issue. Could be time for a regular tune up, or the engine could be falling out of the car.

The message you received is essentially meaningless, though.

Need more details. Model year, engine, mileage, last oil change, fluids checked, etc...

Suburbanize
Yeh I was afraid of that …..a generalized message. My 2016 has not quite 30,000 miles on it but with its age figured something was due to fail just hoping it’s not to serious and won’t take weeks to resolve!

Just curious, since this car has more than one fuel pump, which one failed? (Low pressure one in the fuel tank, or high pressure one on the engine?)

The 3.8 has two. The 5.0 has three.

Ironic. This just happened to us today. On the freeway. My husband lost all power. He could no longer step on the gas pedal. His foot was pressed down all the way. The car had no power. Luckily we got to the shoulder. The car auto locked its tires and shook than powered off. I couldn’t imagine it grid lock on us in the middle of the freeway lanes. Scary is an understatement!! Still under manufacturing warranty. They towed it to the nearest dealer in Irvine, CA. Now I have to wait until 2/28/2023 for a diagnostic check. To get a definite answer. An advisor at the dealer said one of 3 things. Fuel isn’t passsing thru; which I find not true we had gas in it. injector issue or pressure. (Fire, pressure, power). Almost sure it has something to do with pressure. It was scary. The tow truck driver had to drag the G70 into the flat bed because it wouldn’t even allow the car to go into neutral. We just replaced all 4 tires nearly 2 weeks ago. The vehicle diagnostics said it had a condition with the Engine Control System.
