  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was at a dealership on Saturday and kinda left in disgust. I know "sales is sales" and how selling a car usually goes.

To the point: Does anybody have another copy of the owners manual that can be gotten? The one in the documentation thread will not "Decrypt" with Adobe for some reason. I am trying to verify that the 4.6V8 "cuts" cyclinders at speed for fuel economy like the GM series motors.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I've got a 4.6 Gen...no 'cuts" on my engine!

no cuts yet....but probably will in the next build. The v8 already gets great gas mileage and if the addition of this feature only yeilds 1-2 mpg better (like that of the Tahoe Hybrid) it will more than likely be DOA if Hyundai charges big bucks for the technology.

Of course, the best way to save gas is to keep your foot off the throttle...but I bought 375 ponies for a reason...HA

No Cuts. Full Power All The Time. (One less thing to go wrong this way).

Thats what I thought.

I hope they dont do cuts. In the G8 you can feel it as a "vibration". While its not "bad", its noticable and it drives me nuts. Kinda feels like a tranny slipping. And I am just doing the test driving at this time.

I dont mind "uninformed" sales people as I do my own research. However sometimes you just HAVE to wonder why they think lying will get them a sale? And you can apply this to XXX manufacturer/dealer.

It does have GREAT legroom in the back. However I was slightly disappointed in the headroom. I was expecting more. *shrug*

Thats why I am looking at the V6. I know if the power is there my foot will use it. Period. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. :D

FYI: Even the V6 will run like a scalded dawg to 60. The v6 is a fine choice if you want to save a few MPG around the city...but not much. To be honest...I would save up another month or two and get the V8. You will not regret it!

Good luck in whichever one you choose. They are both FINE automobiles!;)

The Honda V6 with cylinder management does not vibrate (or at least the vibration is well isolated), but it does make some weird noises, so Honda installed a noise cancellation system (like noise canceling headphones) to drown out the weird low frequency noise.

IMO the V6 has more than enough power. In fact it almost has a little too much power for when there is no one in the car except the driver.

The G8 GXP does not use cylinder de-activation, if you are looking at that car try the GXP.

Cant find any in my area. :(

I lied, there is one and they are not dickering on price. I wont pay sticker for ANY car.

But thanks for the info, its helpful.

Just as a comment on 8/4 cylinder de-activation...I can't perceive any transition noise/feel at all in my 2007 Tahoe LTZ. I can get 21 mpg if I drive very carefully, though I don't too often. I would be all for Hyundai doing this if it would make another 3 or 4 mpg improvement.

My 1981 Cadillac was a 4-6-8. Mine was great, but Cadillac discontinued because of problems. I would like a 4-6-8 again.
