  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A few days ago I started getting a low washer fluid alert. And now, I have experienced engine issues. Upon starting, the would drag and then cut out. Have been able to restart and drive with no issues. However, this last time the engine light stayed on through engine restarts.

I just started my car again and the engine light was still on. I then popped the hood and the washer fluid cap was left open after a service. I filled the washer fluid tank and closed the cap. Then restarted the car and the engine light is now off and it ran fine during a test drive.

Is it possible that the cap being open causing the washer fluid to evaporate could have caused the engine sensors to detect a problem leading to the issues described above?

I can see a mechanic spending hours trying to find a problem and it was just low washer fluid!
Considering it gave a "low" warning, it may be possible it does funky things in the computer.
