  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We are in the process of purchasing a 2015 Genesis Sedan and the Carfax reads that the engine was replaced in April 2016 at 20k miles. Any advice on a full engine replacement? Has anyone had this work done? Worth the purchase? Good or bad?

I am sure it was done under warranty. May have been returned under the Lemon Laws before they decided to replace the engine.

Yes it was done under the warranty. Would you buy it?

Only if it was a CPO and came with 100 b2b.

V6 or V8?

If the price is right, go for it....car has the new engine after all.

The only thing I would worry about is why the engine had to be replaced. If the engine was abused (or driven very hard, if you prefer) the transmission may have also been driven very hard. So making sure one has the full 10 year - 100K mile drivetrain warranty is preferred.
