We purchased a 2013 3.8L V6 Genesis two weeks ago and I have a question about engine RPM at highway speeds. One my initial test drives I didn't really pay attention to the RPMs very much and today I was out on the highway and it seemed like the engine RPMs were high. At 70mph the engine was running at just under 2000 rpm. Is this normal? It seems a little high to me. In comparison, my 3.5L V6 Ford Flex with a 6 speed automatic runs a bit lower at 70mph (around 1800 or a bit less.)
I expected the Genesis with an 8 speed transmission to run at a lower RPM. It seems to idle normally at around 700.
