  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Have a 2011 that I bought in 2013 with only 17k miles, was in excellent condition. Fast forward to last month and 152,000 miles, while driving had the passenger side wheel well shield come loose and get caught up in the tire while driving 80MPH. It burned the plastic and I have a new one ordered. It got me looking at the entire underbody and I noticed there is not a splash guard in the center protecting the main part of the engine area. I did some research and really cannot find much if any reference to there being an OEM splash shield for the 4.6 sedan, only the coupe. Did the OE not come with one? I can find some aftermarket ones that are marketed for this vehicle, but will it work? Anyone have any experience? I think it would be a good idea to have one just to keep road junk away from the engine area.

Check here. Add your VIN or pick the answers that best describe your Genesis.
I use this website because over the years the technicians removing/installing my splash guard for oil/filter changes were using impact guns so 10 of the 12 bolts used were broken off. I ordered 10 new ones and now have to drill out the broken studs so I can put the splash guard back on. Been over a year so I removed it but need to get it installed. Mine dropped down while driving home and I had to safety-wire it back up.

My 2010 4.6 sedan has splash shields under most of the engine bay, all the way up to the bottom of the front bumper. I would think yours would/should have the same setup.

My 2014 actually has two, one that is below the engine and a second that is under the transmission.
