  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Engine will not accelerate in Drive—engine light on

Sounds like you are in limp mode. Does this if the system detects something that will harm the engine. You need to get it to a shop for diagnosis. At least get the codes read so you know what the issue might be.

A few years ago a critter ate through the wires that went to the timing chain position sensor (that may not be the right term) of my 2015 3.8L Hyundai Genesis Ultimate, so the "check engine" light came on. I was still able to drive the car, but it no longer had the ability to use the variable-timing for the valves. Therefore, there was a lot less power available and less acceleration. I really noticed the reduced acceleration when I tried to accelerate to get onto Interstate 94 to get to the dealer. They fixed the wires, it cost me a bit, but problem solved.

That reminds me, I should spray the wires again with critter spray.

Checked fluid levels-coolant low so topped off—problem appears solved/engine light off. Thanks!
