Been here awhile...
I had the opportunity today to see first-hand the 2011 Equus. It was at Grayson Hyundai in Knoxville, TN, where I live. It's the same dealership where I made the very first purchase of a Genesis in Knoxville.
From first-hand viewing, I can tell you this car is beautiful! It feels 'similar' to a Genesis (after now having 28,500 miles on mine), but the luxurious feel of the amenities are quite stunning. I'm 6'2" tall, and had no problems sitting in the car either in the front or back. The Gen. Sales Mgr. that greeted me there told me that Hyundai has "allowed" him 4/10 mile for parking, etc.!! So, no one will be driving it! It has two batteries, and one is disabled--it's the one that controls dash power, nav, stereo, etc. I did open the hood--looks like the Tau. I was not able to open the trunk, but based on vehicle size, can imagine it's quite large--similar to the Gennies.
The show car was grey w/black interior, and grey head liner. The sales mgr. suggested that he thought the car might list for around $65K, w/future options added that will push $70K. He also said that Hyundai is considering a separate nameplate (brandname) for this car. He also sald that most of the info he had he got on his own--not much of anything was provided, other than the car itself.
I was really surprised to see that there was no fanfare or other excitement being generated to showcase the car. It's really quite a spectacle--in a good sense. It's really quite a nice car. I can't wait to get behind the wheel and drive one next year.
If you get the chance to check it out in your area, make the effort--you'll be glad you did.
