  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When is the Equus supposed to arrive in the dealers? Any ideas? I've asked several sealers in the Charlotte area and no one seems to have any idea.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have been told dealer selection for the new vehicle has not been completed plus factor in the time to modify showrooms and train the sales people and the technicians on the vehicle = Spring of 2011. Look on the bright side there is a good chance the vehicle will come with the 5.0 and 8 speed tranny!

it'll be launching with the 385 hp tau and the 6 speed ZF

That was my understanding as well. Then sometime mid-model year 2011 they we switch over to the 5.0 and 8 speed (on both the Equus and the Genesis V8).

I'm in the same situation here... dealers are clueless. I'm going to try to make that Equus webcast with Derek Joyce, Product Manager of the Hyundai Equus on August 4th (through the Hyundai Think Tank). Hopefully some more info will come out then. Will post what I learn.

Fort Mill Hyundai (Charlotte) Service Manager told me October 2010.

And you got this information from????

Don't recall the exact link... it was a 2011 preview site that was referenced in this forum (may have been in the Genesis threads).
Whether or not it is true is pure speculation by the automotive press, who are all trying to scoop each other. Like psychics, they don't really care how many times they are wrong, they only remember when they are right.

If the dealers knew about a 5.0 upgrade later in the model year (I doubt they would know at this point) they would not tell you because that is confidential information, and even if it wasn't, they would only tell you if they had no 4.6 Tau's in stock. Dealers are not stupid, they don't want customers to wait for something coming later, they want you to purchase right now.

too bad the Equus does not look as good as this..

Just got off the web chat with Derek Joyce, Product Manager of the Hyundai Equus. Derek indicated retail launch of the Equus will be in October and dealers are currently being selected. He also said that building the showroom in a showroom concept is mandatory for dealer acceptance. Not much else new… just a rehashing of the info in the press release. Derek said pricing is close to being finalized and should be out soon. Web ads should start in September with print/TV ads starting in October.

I also partisipated in the Hyundai Think Tank session on the Equus.

They said that there would be a very limited number of dealers selling the Equus. The dealer has to apply for permission to sell the Equus. Great for those of you in LA, Houston, etc - but the rest of us are SOL. I got the impression that even Orlando would not have a dealer. Bottom line, if you have asked your dealer about the Equus and they know nothing, they wont be selling the car.

They are offering free pickup and delivery for service. With the limited number of dealers it will be interesting what the distance limit is (100 miles, 200 miles???).

Very interesting car with great features, but sounds like most of us wont have a chance to get one:(.

That looks like a car with terrible headroom and difficult access. There is a reason cars don't look like that (or the ones that do, don't sell very well).

I got it on good authority that the Equus will be introduced before the end of this year. Jenkins Hyundai of Leesburg informed me that they have a dedicated area just for the Equus. I saw this dedicated area, a showroom within a showroom when I was there earlier in the week.

While at another dealer yesterday, I saw that they also have a dedicated area, although they did not tell me so, as we were not talking about the Equus at the time.

To those that want an Equus, it will be here shortly.

FWIW, I subscribe to a publication called "The Week" and on page 4 & 5, there is an ad for the Equus.
Page 4 says; The Car You Drive Says A LOT ABOUT YOU. The Car You Don't Drive May Say Even More.
Page 5 shows a side view from the B post back.

Its coming.

I just finished reading an article about the Equus and availability was listed as Nov. 1. Also if you are up around the Charlotte area apparently Carolina Hyundai in Ft. Mill is supposed to have the Equus on display Oct. 21 - Nov. 3. I haven't been able to call to verify this info yet but it is supposed to be part of the Equus Tour where specific dealers get to show the car off for a week or so.

I heard they will be available for sale on November 1, 2010. I have not seen one at my local dealership and don't know if they will be selling them. May have to go to Tallahassee or Jacksonville.

OC Hyundai has one (a Korean model) in their showroom. They confirmed November 1.

Was invited to the Equus Open House in Fort Lauderdale area last night and got to fully check out the Ultimite version of the Equus. It is beautiful and was able to play around with the back seat massage seat. They gave a bottle of "Equus brand" wine by Ferrari-carano Tresor 2006 red wine.....

When it comes to either my closest dealer, or my selling dealer, I'll have to see if I can get a bottle of that wine. :D
