  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was out for a short ride in my 2013 R-Spec a few nights ago and my Check Engine Light came on. So, I pulled in to a 7-Eleven to get a cold drink and check the error code(s) in the log. The OBDLink app on my Galaxy S3 Reported the following codes in the log:
P2097 Post Catalyst Fuel System Trim Too Rich bank1
P2099 Post Catalyst Fuel System Trim Too Rich bank2
Does anyone have any info about these codes and what might have caused the errors? The car still runs great and I didn't notice anything abnormal at the time the Check Engine Light first came on. Are these serious error codes or are they something I could ignore and just clear the code to make the Check Engine Light go off.

I have an appointment for a routine service at the Hyundai dealer Thursday morning and I'm sure they'll take care of the error codes. I'm just curious about the cause / reason for the codes.

it might be the top tier gas your using. lol. sorry no idea but it does seem like there may be too many inpurities in your exaust system.

Unless there are other codes, they'll clear 'em along with the learned behavior in the PCM, probably sell you some fuel system cleaner (aka Techron), tell you to fill it up with 93 octane. If they're smart, they'll tell you to go drive the shit out of it and report back. If both banks show rich, it's usually not the sensors or the catalysts unless you've done something stupid to ruin both cats (or the car ruined them from a fueling issue).

Air leaks (unmetered air)
Bad fuel pump regulator, or with DI, a bad or malfunctioning high pressure fuel pump (which usually would throw its own codes and cause other problems)

Typically, with an overfueling, you'd see gas mileage go to dogshit, lots of black gunk on the tailpipes. You also see fuel trim codes on both banks.

But, here's the good news. It's under warranty as long as you didn't do something dumb like remove or alter any part of the emissions system. Let us know what the result is.
