  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys, I just bought an Escort Qi45 modular radar detector. Basically it is in 3 parts, (1) the detector head which you fit inside the front grille (or more likely the lower airdam), a wire has to be fed through the bulkhead into the passenger compartment (preferably the drivers side) and connects to a (2)box and a (3) tiny display. What I am trying to work out is if there is a convenient hole in the bulkhead that I can't see which I will be able to feed the cable through (the end is the same as a telephone jack).

If there are any people that have fitted anything under the hood that requires wiring running into the passenger compartment I would love to get some feedback on how it was done.

...just moving this into the main Genesis Sedan area where it'll get more attention..

I haven't done it, but I saw this set at SEMA this year, and it looks awesome! I hope to perhaps do it in the future.

I hard wired an electronic deer alert and brought a wire back to the passenger compartment over the fender/door opening. I did not try to thread through a firewall grommet/opening. There were no apparent grommets that I could see. I just threaded the wire to the door opening, etc.
The problem with trying to thread through the firewall is that the dash area is comparatively "sealed" so it is hard to find a wire on the inside.
What you might do is remove the plastic inner fender liner. You will then have direct access to the door post where you can drill an unobtrusive hole for the wire.

Good luck.
