New to the group! I bought a 2015 Hyundai Genesis....immaculate 1 owner, all scheduled maintenance done, no accidents. I presume the PO finally traded up as all maintenance was done at the same dealership from which he bought it new. I really like this car, more so than my older Mercedes SL500 roadster. Making long trips in this car is like driving a sofa compared to the Roadster. Nice to kick in the V8 on topless summer evenings, but horrible for long trips.
When I purchased the Hyundai this year (2024...first thing I did was to change the trunk badge), it came with a 4000 mile warranty, under which time a canister close valve was repaired at no cost due to the warranty (might have been a recall....there was some confusion on that point). Regardless, covered, repaired, evap tested, happily out the door. A month later, check engine light back on and now they tell me it's the Evap Canister seal. My warranty was up, so this was out of pocket. Negligible parts, but $600 labor. I'm not a mechanic. My first question was if the seal was related to the work done on the close valve. They assured me it was not. Is this true?
Secondly, the national average labor for replacing the entire Evap cannister is $200 - $400. Do you agree with this? Was I overcharged?
