  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't like the way the front end pushes through turns when I'm getting on the car. I would really prefer better balance and have the ability to keep the front end planted and use throttle control if desired.
Mine is a V6 and I was wondering if anyone has considered putting the rear sway bar from the V8 on the V6?
I am open to any other ideas that won't ruin the basic character of the car as a whole.

I see that Eibach has a pro kit sway bars and springs available now. Has anyone tried this or know anyone that has?

Have you tried slow-in, fast-out for less understeer? When I drove the car at the ride & drive it responded really well to this approach. Most vehicles (Genesis included) will plow when you go into the corner too hot.

I understand the driving dynamics.
Personally I have spent time racing 125cc shifter karts, and also road raced formula III motorcycles at willow springs raceway for a number of years. I've been through a combination of four different high performance, racing, and driving schools.
Not saying I am some great driver, but I do have some experience and practice with driving techniques. ;)

Anyway, the car just understeers too much for my liking. I feel it would be much more beneficial on some driver's roads with less understeer and I would like some input from others that have tried some fixes.
thanks

I had to ask. I didn't want to see someone with very little experience thinking that changing swaybars would let them do u-turns at 60mph or something. :)

I am looking forward to hearing reviews from people who install aftermarket suspension mods on their Genesis. You may be the first....

Have you aligned the car yet? Factory alignment settings are normally junk. Dial in some camber up front with 0 toe as a starting point and see how the car responses. It has a Macpherson strut design in the front which means the geometry is crap and any body roll will cause loss of camber in the front leading to understeer. Increasing roll stiffness will definitely help the car.

Tony,
thanks for the tip on the alignment.
I'm going to get some eibach springs soon and when I do the alignment I'll have the shop take a look at it.

What is turn in concepts?

Turn In Concepts (TiC) is us. We're a shop that specializes in Subaru suspensions. We've been looking for a second market to get into as much as we are into Subarus. Tried the MINI, and while it is indeed a very fun car our business model, more true performance oriented parts, does not mix with the typical MINI idea of performance parts (carbon fiber cup holders, and new vinyl stickers).

We've been watching the progress of the Genny, and when our Mini S goes away in the spring we're most likely going to be picking one up. We've been talking to a bunch of the folks we know to see if they've also been looking at it, and a number have. We think it's going to be a fun car with all sort of GOOD aftermarket support.

Clint,
I used to own an 05 Subaru Legacy GT wagon 5m. Great Car!
Where are you located?

My personal goal is to turn my Genesis in to an "M" or "AMG" type of look and performer.
I want good suspension, intake, exhaust, and brake mods, and "NO BLING"!
Just good old euro tuner look and function.

I plan on going with 18" full black rims (keep em light) and maybe some Korean Concepts carbon fiber exterior trim.
I am also toying with the blacked out grill idea.

The Genesis sedan has a 5pt multilink up front & out back. The Genesis Coupe on the other hand, will have the McPhearson set up on the front with 5pt on the rear.

ValiFan, increasing the rear sway bar should give you what you're looking for in reducing the understeer dive into the corners & increase the oversteer ability to get the rear end around. Eibach may already have front & rear sway bars available for this vehicle, if not the V/8s rear should work. I would check into a combo setup of Eibach springs & Koni adjustable struts. If available, they will work well together in providing a sportier feel & should enable you to corner at higher speeds. The rebound & dampning on the Konis should provide a decent ride too.
