  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is my first Genesis. I was dying to get this truck but now that I have it, OMG…the maintenance schedule is insane. Every time I look up I’m due for a service. I’ve never had to service a car so much. And then it’s expensive! Does anyone else agree or am I just tripping?
And don’t get me started on the issues we’ve had just since June 2025 when I purchased it.
Should I cut my losses now or stick with it? Thoughts?

Are you going by the Genesis manual or the dealer recommendations? Nothing excessive that I saw. Can you give a couple of instances?

Please be more specific about the maintenance needed. My 25 G70 requires very little maintenance.

The ones that pop up on the app. It was $35k miles, then 40k and now I’m due for 48k.
I’m like what else do you need to do to a car?
I’ve owned several vehicles, new and used, and never have I seen a service department so much. 🤣
Not to mention they’ve replaced the fuel tank and heat/air sensor already.

I purchased it with 29k miles on it in June. It’s a 2021. I love the car! Truly do but it’s hard trying to enjoy it when my car is always pinging for a service due. 🤣

So I just purchased it in June with 29k miles and it’s a 2021.
I’ve had to get a 35k mile maintenance, then 40k which cost $500 and now I’m due for the 48k mile maintenance that will cost ~$2400.

Oil change? Other services? The dealer is setting some of that crap. Get the manual and follow it. You can reset the interval in the car too.
If you had the oil changed at 30k, it would be due again at 48K.

Ed, Do you really go 18,000 miles between oil changes? Please tell me that's a mistaken typo!
Using full synthetic can stretch intervals to 10k maximum!!

And I’m good with oil changes. They should be every 5-8k miles depending on the oil you use. Buts it’s other services. I’m going to look at my manual tonight and compare.
I tried uploading the pictures to show but it says the file is too large.

This is what I got from the dealership.
My dealer does some of that at every visit, no charge. Sure, the car is on the lift so look around. If they see something it can be beneficial.
They will note the brake pad thickness and tire wear if it is getting low. They are safety issues and also money making opportunities. Cabin air filter is a $15 DIY that takes 5 minutes, no tools or special skills. I do it every year.

The spark plug replacement is probably a large part of that 48k mile maintenance bill. I wonder if it's really necessary.

Depends on the engine. Some of the turbo, they say 48k but the normal is 100k.
On some of the cars we had in the 60s, it was a 20 minute job, now much more involved.

That list seems to come from a dealership. You need to go by the Genesis manual for the services you need. Clean and tighten prop shaft bolts? That is for sure an un-needed dealership list.
