  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had any luck in getting a dealer to let you test drive the car over the weekend or for a whole day? I know chevrolet and toyota will do that locally here.

In reading what I have on these forums, people say that the Rspec sedan suspension provides different performance on rough roads.

I would like to take the car on many different roads other than what the dealer's test route does. Their route is all new roads and interstate.

I think i would be satisfied within about 2 hrs of driving. (but i kind of secretly want to see what it looks like in my driveway too :D ) I also want to drive it by myself without interaction from a sales guy. Plus I think the sales guy would have no fun riding around for a few hours.

I have rented the 3.8 and driven it several hundred miles, but nobody rents an RSpec. Has anyone had any luck seeing if the dealer will rent them the car? I don't mind paying a reasonable amount. The dealer i went to made it seem like rspecs are super rare, making me think that this is not possible.

The Dealership in my town had let me drive the car for about 24 hours before buying the car. at the same time i have bought 3 cars from them in the past 5 years.

I've had the same results with extended test drives, usually 24-48 hours they will let me keep the car and put a milage limit on it ..typically 100-200 miles which is very generous. This is why I'm on the fence still with my RSpec, I'd like some quality time in it before making the purchase but they don't have one in stock till next week and have already arranged for me to have a day or two with it before ordering mine.

I took my rspec for 24 hours - knowing that I would prob buy the car. Went out and got hammered that night. Had to take a cab home, then take a cab back to the bar at 7am, then drive back to the dealership to complete the paperwork hungover...

Doh!

cool, sounds like if they know you are serious, that it is doable.

I dont plan on getting hammered before doing paperwork though (maybe after)

I plan on buying a Santa Fe Sport for the wife before the end of the year too.

Did you guys that took it for 24 hrs have to fill out the financial paperwork first so they know you are serious? I wont have any problems doing that, i just want to know if that is something i will need to do or not. Normally I just bring a draft from my credit union, but the Hyundai financing is a really good deal that i cant beat.

You all have all been so helpful
Thank you for all the continued input

I'd still bring the draft from your credit union to show how serious you are about purchasing the vehicle, you know the old saying of money talks (bullplucky) walks. They like to see that check in hand, and then if you say I'm also looking at your financing that sweetens the deal for them. Yes I did all the financing each time, but the stipulation of the test drive being the final buying decision has always been part of the deal. Best of luck to you on your new purchase.
