  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2011 Equus with 43000 miles. My factory warranty runs out in 35 days. Any recommendations. The Hyundai Wrap warranty, an aftermarket warranty or is it even worth purchasing?

Many Hyundai dealers push their own warranty brands and don't offer the Hyundai extended warranty. Shop around. I bought a non-Hyundai brand warranty from my Hyundai dealer when my Genesis was 3 years old. I paid $1,295 for the highest level available. It lasts till 2024 (!), or 120,000 miles. The warranty is transferable to a new owner for $50.

You might not be aware of it, but your Equus has been without warranty coverage for two years on your radio/Nav system. It's your call, but I wouldn't be without such coverage in these days of very expensive auto repairs. My son's Altima steering column needed repair recently. He paid nearly $1,000!

I am in the same boat, having a 2012 running out 2/12 with 37000 miles on the clock. First quote I got from Ellis in Atlanta for my non-CPO car was 5yrs/ 75,000 with $100 ded for $2895 or 5yrs/100,000 with $100 ded for $3195
That's a bit rich for me. First Hyundai in North Attleboro Massachusetts did not respond, even after repeated attempts to get a quote by email with my statistics.

My credit union offers a NO-DEDUCTIBLE program through Route 66 for 5 years or 100,000 miles for $1545 or 8 years or 100,000 miles for $1745. But, navigation equipment, sound reproduction components are excluded.

Still pondering, but I had good luck with Warranty Direct years ago, and have yet to get a quote from them.

Sure would appreciate any additional information from other board members!

Further to my earlier post, I went to Warranty Direct and got an online quote.

5 years, 100,000 miles, 100 deductible $103.33 per month.

Optional coverage for Airbags $103.33

Luxury Electronics $361

Total cost $1,963 plus $496 optional coverage, $2,459 total. Administered by Interstate National Dealer Services

Still a lot of money!

The Equus, unlike the other Hyundai cars , included Radio/nav coverage for the full time of the factory bumper to bumper coverage

That being I said..I purchased the Hyundai "wrap" warranty for $1995 at the dealer when I bought my car
It essentially turned it into a transferable 8 year/100K Hyundai factory bumper to bumper warranty from the cars original in service date

I'm going with Route 66 warranty from my credit union. $1715 for 8 year / 120,000 miles (8 years from date of purchase of the WARRANTY, not the car)
The quote includes $150 for high tech electronics coverage to cover the sound reproduction equipment. I figure that even if I don't use it, the car should be worth more when I sell it, perhaps up to $1,000 more. At least this was my experience when selling the car that the Equus replaced.
