  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

To be clear... I love my Genny. I'm happy with the quietness. But as my wife will tell you... I'm all about trying to improve on perfection. It's my humanity :).

That said... has anyone thought of adding sound panels above the wheel wells, in the trunk, any other place to absorb even more road/tire noise? I'm thinking of Accumat, or Dynamat, etc.

I'm looking at these sites:

I can't help but chuckle when I read this.

I think the genesis is very quiet inside, but extra sound dampening wouldnt be a bad thing

I haven't tried it, but I did think about it when I saw this.

Later,
Tom

Thanks for the input. The trunk is an obvious place to start since it's fairly easy access for a DIY. I may start there and see how it goes.

I'm also going to try to read the shop manuals to see just how simple or difficult it would be to extract the wheel wells. If it's easy, I may then attempt to put the material on the body side (not the exposed side). This project may take awhile, but I'll keep all posted when I get to it.

Has anyone tried this eDead stuff? I'm getting my trunk ledge cover this week, and am wondering if I should add some of this stuff before installing it. How about under the trunk floor?

The only noise I ever notice in my Genny is a little exhaust noise under throttle - at idle, or cruising, I am very pleased with the lack of wind, road and engine noise.

I haven't tried the deadening material, but I doubt you'd hear any difference. The Genesis engineers went to great lengths to make it an extremely quiet car and the rule of diminishing returns come into play. If a few extra pounds of well placed deadening material would have made a measurable difference, I think the engineers would have beat us to it!

Finally installed the wing trunk badge last week - looks sweet...

Happy New Year, dude... :D

I am impressed with some of the sound reduction measures that Hyundai has taken. If you look real close you will notice that the rear wheel wells are not just regular plastic. It reminds me of interior rear shelfing in that it is coated with a felt type material. I have noticed that it cuts the sound in half when stones fly off the tire. I bet it also dampens some of the tire noise as well!
