  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a '14 with series 7 navigation. On June 1st Hyundai announced a series 8 update, which I immediately ordered direct from the vendor. The vendor is MnSOFT which produces the update on a USB drive. It has a Hyundai label and the part #91U22.
Long story: tried to download the USB and it froze on folder #6 (last folder) of the massive download. This froze the entire audio system. Took car to dealer (14K miles on odo). Dealer tried to download without success. Could not unlock frozen audio system. Vendor was of limited help: only remedy seemed to be to send more thumbdrives of same.
Dealer replaced the entire audio system under warranty, which included Series 7 navigation system.
I will return the thumb drive to MnSoft for credit.

Discouraging to say the least.

Genesis owners also had issues updating software as well on earlier models. That's why I never updated mine.

Just bought a new Equus instead!

Mine was updated by dealer. No problems. I have read of problems though. The service tech told me that the car needed to be running or a trickle charger hooked up to the battery to maintain voltage for the entire update otherwise the system could freeze.

My dealer will be updating my 2011 Equus navigation system tomorrow. I am confident that it will go great.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Can anyone tell me what the upgrade does? better graphics? updated POI? Different user interface?

Is it just maps for the entire system (aux, ipod, cd, etc.?)

I see that OP has an 2014 Equus. In looking at the MapNSoft website, the map update part number for the 2014 Equus is different than the 2014 Genesis (either touch screen NAV, or jog dial NAV version on Tech Package).

I guess with the small number of Equus vehicles out there, might need to be careful about being on the bleeding edge of debugging their stuff for them.

I had a 2010 Genesis and never updated the NAV because I did not see the value. Never had an issue. Just upgraded to a Equus

Depends where you live and drive. In some places, there are a lot of road changes and additions. Probably not so many in CT.

Follow-up to my previous post. Map update was successfulyl by the dealer. I have noticed additional roads and POI. I am sure there may be other items included in the update. This was the first time my Nav system was updated. I own a 2011 Equus which was purchased used.
