If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2010 4.6 with Tech Pkg. I have had the car 4 weeks and now have 2750 miles on the car. We had been a Lexus LS owner for the past ten years. Traded my wifes 2003 LS430 in on the 4.5. Just got back from four days in the NC mountains which included many switchbacks coming back down the mountains.

Observations:
1. I am thrilled with the suspension in the 2010-build date April 2010. This car rides great and provides just enough feedback to make you feel comfortable putting it in to tight mountain turns.
2. My wife's Lexus LS 430 floated down the highway almost as bad as a Caddilac!! The Genesis ride is always firm yet not harsh.
3. The stereo is the best I have ever had in a car. Hands down beats the Lexus stock radio in the LS430.
4. The DIS/Nav system I find is easy to use and has not caused me any problems. The chosen route to take me back from Highlands, NC to Wilmington, NC was the best and shorest route to take.
5. Most important-people keep turning their heads as I blast by them to try and figure out what type of car I have.

The net of this is that I feel that I made a great decision. Lexus wanted $48,000 for a 2008 Lexus 460 with 40,000 miles. I paid $39,000 out the door for a car that as far as I am concerned, has almost equal quality and clearly more vlaue for the dollar.

Nice to hear. That was my impressions on my 3 test drives of the Genesis.

I've got two Lexus in the garage currently and am waiting on the 2011 Genesis Sedan - V8 with tech package as well.

I've had my 2010 4.6 Tech for a month, today. I've driven a few cars in my time - 88 Cougar LS, 92 Chevy Lumina, 06 Sonata, 05 Denali XL, 06 Charger R/T, 05 Escalade ESV Platinum, and now my Genesis.

Comparisons that matter:

  • Charger R/T: The Charger(which I dumped due to an ECU problem they wouldn't/couldn't fix under warranty, and even though I won my lemon case, it got dismissed due to bankruptcy of Dodge, lol) might have had a slight acceleration edge over the Genesis, from a stop. Rolling, it's no question that the Genny is faster. In every other way, though, the Genesis is superior.
  • Escalade: While the Caddy was a Caddy, it was also a truck. Lots of power, but floaty suspension. In terms of interior quality, fit/finish/radio/electronics, the Gen wins hands down.

I can't wait to get my badges Monday and rebadge this baby. Then, pics!

I also have the 2010 4.6 with Nav and am one week shy of my first month... and I truly "love" this car. Although I came out of a Nissan Armada, my wife drives a Lexus.

I am ecstatic about my decision (over an Audi) and we gladly banked the $8000 difference and got a lot more bang-for-the-buck...... plus the pleasure of people giving you the second-look and asking if it's a "Mercedes".... etc.

After I told the last guy that asked that it was a Hyundai.... he replied..... "Those Japanese really make a nice car." Gotta love it.

Build date does not matter for 2010 model year. All 2010's have same suspension. There was a mid-year suspension change in 2009 model year (April 2009) and another change for all 2010 models.

Glad to hear positive reviews! I absolutely am having a blast in mine, love the V8!

Stoof, the Genesis is more comparable, IMO, to the Lexus GS. Not the LS. The GS handles more like the Genesis.

The LS will be compared to the Hyundai Equus. The Equus probably handles much more like your LS.

"When buying a car it is best to be loyal to yourself above others. Things like driving pleasure, past personal experience, personal comfort and perceived value are far more important than where or who made your car. Remember, when the new wears off the payments persist. When manufacturers stop getting judged on those qualities, they stop making a superior product. Anyone who makes purchase decisions based solely on national origin is deserving of whatever junk they get."

I have used this signature over on the GM site and it drives them nuts. I am a long time recovering GM owner and when I disposed of my GM orphanage (Saab, Pontiac) and bought the Genesis, I was derided and ridiculed as having bought junk and being unAmerican. I have owned a lot of cars in my life and I can truly say that my new Genesis is one of the finest cars I have ever owned. Great driving, well built and very comfortable, I am pleased with the purchase. I have received several emails from both Hyundai and my dealer asking if all is well and if I have any concerns at all. When GM dumped Pontiac and Saab, all I got from GM was them begging me to buy another GM product and an offer of a free oil change to compensate me for the extreme depreciation I experienced on both orphaned cars.

I would agree with this. The Genesis that I drove seemed alot like my 2nd Generation Lexus GS300, which was also rear wheel drive. My current Lexus GS350 (3rd Generation) rides a lot stiffer than the Genesis. I liked the ride of the Genesis a lot better!

They offer All Wheel Drive and Rear Wheel Drive. I have the All Wheel Drive.

Haha .... Cut Throat. I was asking about SUSPENSION option. Not DRIVE option.

Did you know that the GS has a suspension option like BMW ??

Mine is std. Not sure if it was even offered for the GS350 in 2007, which mine is.

Well I sure would not get rid of that GS. Just put softer springs on it or something. That is one badasss machine !

I am not getting rid of it. I am trading my wife's 2003 ES300 on a Genesis.

I have driven the Genesis and it does not take a backseat to the GS350 at all! - The Genesis is a bigger Car with a much bigger trunk as well! There are pluses and minuses to both cars. They are both great, but the Genny saves you a lot of dough!

Yes, I would trade that Lexus ES Camry for the Genesis too, as that is an absolute upgrade.

My point was not to compare the Genesis to the Lexus LS, GS or a 5 series BMW etc. My Point was to say that my wifes Lexus LS430 that we traded on the Genesis felt like a Caddilac floating down the road and my new Genesis is more connected to the road and a pleasure to drive.

The LS430 is not even close to a current model year of the LS. The latest LS460 is much less of a floater than fromally was the case.

Mark, I agree with you yet Lexus has priced themselves out of my budget. On average, they wanted $48,000.00 for a 2008 with around 40,000 miles. These were certified Lexus's from dealers. The Genesis was $39,000 out the door and just felt right.

I am not questioning your decision. The first Lexus cars where under-priced just like the Genesis is now. But Lexus is now a prestige brand, and you have to pay a premium for that, over and above what it might ordinarily cost.

Hyundai has under-priced the Genesis to build brand awareness, just like Lexus when they started out. Ten years from now, either the price of the Genesis will be relatively higher, or they may remove the Genesis from the North American market (no need for Genesis to exit the Korean market since a loaded V8 Genesis costs about $57K USD in Korea and Hyundai has enormous brand loyalty there).
