  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings all - newbie here & first post. I have read a lot of the recent threads (including the ENTIRE dislikes thread) and did a little bit of searching as well - but could not find anything regarding this. Hopefully some of you guys can advise?

I am thinking of going to the Genny in Feb-April. I will be looking into a 15 CPO... at least the signature, hopefully the tech or ult if I can find it at the right price.

I have a sort of odd question - and it really applies only to those of you who have driven them through this past winter:

The fender liners/wheel wells and the front under-pinnings are made of a felty-fiber material... a hardened version of a micro-fiber express mail envelope. How have these held up over the winter? Any breaks? Cracks? Any come loose? More snow glued to them? etc etc etc.

Thanks in advance! :)

I don't have direct experience with the Genesis but I just bought one and traded in a Lexus which had a very similar material and I was in a MN winter.

Yes, the felt does hold some snow but it did not seem troublesome, it just packs into the wheel wells more than cars that have hard plastic. It is really only an issue when you are actually driving in snow storm which is really not that often.

One interesting thing I noticed, the genesis rear fenders are smooth inside the wheel wells and there is no ridge or "shelf" that holds salt and grime. In theory there would be less long term corrosion in this area. It seems like the wheel wells are actually better finished than the Lexus models I have had (GS, LS and RX).
