  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After 6 months of carefully parking my car way away from everyone, I did it to myself. Running late and pulling into an appointment this morning, there was a rather high curb and I hit it trying to park my car well away from the neighbor car. Barely scrapped the front fender facia but managed to rip out part of the skirt under the car...had to rip off the piece hanging down in order to pull the car forward to finishing parking. And of course, there are now plenty of electronics exposed. I just want to kick myself especially after I come out of my appointment and see the same car parked there...could have parked closer and never gotten a door ding! Stupid me!

Ah man that sucks.

That sucks! But its only money. Don't beat yourself up too much

I did the same thing but not quite as bad as you. I scrapped the bottom edge of mine. The Parking Assit just started beeping and was shocked when I heard it hit. When I got out I found that the curb angle outward on one side.

Lesson learned. I now only back into parking spaces. I never pull in again unless it is an angled space. When it is one of those, I park farther away from the curb just to make sure.

Well, if there is any good news to this, I went to my dealer today. Part is $198 and they are going to charge me $50 to install. So, for less than $300 my error will be corrected on Fri. Don't like throwing money away but hate the thought of all the electronics covered by that sheild being exposed to the environment...

That's a lot less than I thought, and (relatively) good news!

$200 for a sheet of molded plastic. I am seriously in the wrong line of work.
