The exhaust note changes and sounds much better when you get on it. Drive it like you stole it from around 600 miles to 1500-2000 miles to break it in...
Thanks.
I think i understand. When i got my base v8, it had 300 miles on it; I drove back 700 miles to home....and was careful until 600 miles (as per the discussions here, and in the book), and then drove aggressively for the rest of the way. Now the car has 2600 miles...and it is smooth and quiet in the cabin (a friend who are riding for the first time with me asked if this is an electric car, as it is so quiet)....and when driven aggressively, it is a beast.
BTW, the one regret

i do have it that i should have bought an Ultimate...I miss the HUD (i liked it when i test drove)...can live without the enhanced audio....did not know much about adaptive air suspension. I bought mine 2 months ago.
My decision for a non-Ultimate v8 was purely based on price i was getting, for what was available...searched for v8 prices within 1000 miles, and came across a dealer (quite far away for me) with one last v8 sitting on their lot for about a year, MSRP was $52700, and they had it down to $45K for lease terms (but wanted all the rebate qualifications, etc...e.g. competitive, military, newgrad/etc; and i qualified for only the Loyalty one, and Lease cash at that time) but we could not make the deal after talking/emailing for a week or so ( i was looking for $43K; ~$10K off MSRP, just as a mental model). Called them two weeks later (after a couple of weekends, incl the long memorial day one) , just as a prod to see if they sold the car (they had not), and said i would be interested now to buy (vs lease) if they would now do $38K with no expectations of any rebates, etc

.
Guess they were desperate to move it by month end in May....they offered me $40,200 on May 29th...not sure how; but i jumped at it....was on a plane and at the dealership in 18 hours to get the car on May 30th, with a certified cashier's check. I checked the car out, and it was fine...I did decide to buy the HMA 10yr/100K miles Platinum Zero deductible warranty for $1380...bringing the total to $41580...got a temp permit to drive it back...and was home the next day. Took me a while to get it registered in my state...lots of formalities, and lots of taxes that essentially increase the cost of the car to $45K or so....
BTW, i did try to have local dealers near me price match their deal, and they laughed at me....saying that i was being taken for a ride (flying their), and that no dealer can do that price, period.
So, while i do have the "missing the Ultimate" regret...I am not sure I could afford it, or justify the extra expense for the HUD. Now, if only that dealer had a Ultimate v8 sitting...

I will never know what i could have gotten...
