  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After posting here for a long while, finally jumped in the water today. A 2015 5.0 Ultimate - Black on Ivory. Having rear wing done now - pick up in a few hours. Hankook's still on, will leave on until free deal expires.

Deal specifics:

List Price: $55,700
Sales Price $46,980

Lease at $486/mo. (taxes and tags up front). 36x10K.

Will be contributing now as a "user" instead of a observer. Lot's learned here from all, making the decision to leap easier. More pics to follow.

Damn....another traitor!

Seriously......Congrats on your new ride! :D

Congrats ksoze. I'm itching to pull the trigger based on your deal but holding back to hear what the 2016 changes my be.

Damn nice car! Congrats

Congratulations! You're going to love the HECK out of that car...

Congrats Ksoze on finally pulling the trigger and great job on finding one with the Hankook's still on it. Can't beat a free set of tires down the road for sure. You also got a great car (5.0 Ultimate) and a great deal. Now all that is left to do is change your status to an owner.

Thanks, Akeelj. I was also holding off, but decided to lease and the residual would have taken a hit and the availability of 5.0 Ultimate's was getting leaner. The lease terms and incentive made sense even if I buyout at lease end. I am not expecting much change on a year two model, so figured now was time while the deals were good. Once you leap, no looking back...

Congratulations! I just took the plunge last week, opposite color combo compared to you =)

Congrats! I had no idea that you weren't an owner all this time. In any case, enjoy your ride!

Congrats and you'll love the V8 especially after a few thousand miles. I miss driving mine. Severed my Achilles tendon in my right leg, had surgery and won't be driving for a while.

What happens after a few thousand miles? Also, how much is a few thousand? Thanks

The exhaust note changes and sounds much better when you get on it. Drive it like you stole it from around 600 miles to 1500-2000 miles to break it in... :D

He means after the engine loosens up a bit, somewhere around the 2k mark for me.

Holy crap that's a 1 year injury. I apologize for the thread-jack, but how did you manage to do that?

Thanks.

I think i understand. When i got my base v8, it had 300 miles on it; I drove back 700 miles to home....and was careful until 600 miles (as per the discussions here, and in the book), and then drove aggressively for the rest of the way. Now the car has 2600 miles...and it is smooth and quiet in the cabin (a friend who are riding for the first time with me asked if this is an electric car, as it is so quiet)....and when driven aggressively, it is a beast.

BTW, the one regret :( i do have it that i should have bought an Ultimate...I miss the HUD (i liked it when i test drove)...can live without the enhanced audio....did not know much about adaptive air suspension. I bought mine 2 months ago.
My decision for a non-Ultimate v8 was purely based on price i was getting, for what was available...searched for v8 prices within 1000 miles, and came across a dealer (quite far away for me) with one last v8 sitting on their lot for about a year, MSRP was $52700, and they had it down to $45K for lease terms (but wanted all the rebate qualifications, etc...e.g. competitive, military, newgrad/etc; and i qualified for only the Loyalty one, and Lease cash at that time) but we could not make the deal after talking/emailing for a week or so ( i was looking for $43K; ~$10K off MSRP, just as a mental model). Called them two weeks later (after a couple of weekends, incl the long memorial day one) , just as a prod to see if they sold the car (they had not), and said i would be interested now to buy (vs lease) if they would now do $38K with no expectations of any rebates, etc :-).
Guess they were desperate to move it by month end in May....they offered me $40,200 on May 29th...not sure how; but i jumped at it....was on a plane and at the dealership in 18 hours to get the car on May 30th, with a certified cashier's check. I checked the car out, and it was fine...I did decide to buy the HMA 10yr/100K miles Platinum Zero deductible warranty for $1380...bringing the total to $41580...got a temp permit to drive it back...and was home the next day. Took me a while to get it registered in my state...lots of formalities, and lots of taxes that essentially increase the cost of the car to $45K or so....

BTW, i did try to have local dealers near me price match their deal, and they laughed at me....saying that i was being taken for a ride (flying their), and that no dealer can do that price, period.

So, while i do have the "missing the Ultimate" regret...I am not sure I could afford it, or justify the extra expense for the HUD. Now, if only that dealer had a Ultimate v8 sitting... :) I will never know what i could have gotten...

Yes sir and thanks for asking. I was in the process of assisting in arresting a violent felon and pop goes the right achilles tendon. It made such a loud noise and was the most painful experience of my life. Being 6' 7" and 271lbs, my Orthopedic surgeon advised due to my size and extent of the injury (my surgeon advised it's one of the worst ruptures he has ever seen) recovery is going to take a very long time. I can't start PT for at least 3 months, most likely longer, out at least a year, most likely longer and possibly not returning to work.
