  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Finally!

I've been looking at and debating about the Genny since early in 2009 and we finally did the deed and took delivery on Friday.

What a fantastic vehicle!!! Toyota and Lexus are in real trouble. We replaced our 2007 Lexus ES350 and the Genesis surpasses it in virtually every respect.

Anyway, I've been reading the forum off and on for the last year and a half and just wanted to "come out" :) and introduce myself.

My name is Chuck, I live in SE Michigan between Ann Arbor and Detroit and I hope to be enjoying the Genesis for a long time. Thanx to all for all the info the forum has provided.

PS: Front & Rear wings will be installed late this week I hope. Just waiting for the dealer to receive them.

Congratulations on "coming out" and :welcome: to our "elite" group (of Gennie owners)! :D

You made a great decision and will enjoy your gennie (especially the V8 version)

Congradulation Ckon. Good luck and enjoy! Please keep us updated with your new car experience.

Thanx. Front and rear wings should go on this week.

Congratulations on buying one of the finest cars in the world, and welcome to a friendly group of Genesis lovers. :grouphug:

I'm approaching the third month since I bought my Genesis, and I love it more every day. It is beautiful inside and out, it has incredibly smooth power, it handles well, and I love all of the features (I have the Tech package). There's not a shadow of doubt that I bought the right car.

This last Friday I had the second occasion of someone flagging me down to ask what type of car it is and say that they love it. I've never had that happen with any other car. No one has ever told my son that they love his Lexus LS430, nor has my wife received that sort of compliment about her BMW 330xi. There is a separate thread with dozens of reports like this.

I have the Tau V8 engine, and it is simply the smoothest, most powerful car I've ever driven. It has 90 more horsepower than my son's LS430 (which feels sluggish and detached from the road), and my wife's 330xi can't touch it. My wife used to own a twin-turbo Dodge Stealth. The Stealth had lots of power once you got the turbos revved up, but it was nothing like the instant, high-torque of the Genesis V8.

The wing badges make a huge difference in the presentation of the car. They really add class. Some people will think it's a Bentley, others will stop you to ask what it is. There are lots of other details that show class such as the softly lighted "Genesis" markers on the door thresholds, and the tasteful chrome strips on the sides and rear.

I can't believe how much car I got for the price I paid.

Simply put, the Genesis is a masterpiece of art and engineering.

Dang, you are as biased as I am! :D

Ckon, welcome to a group of selective and smart car owners. I'm sure you are really going to enjoy your Genny, especially with the V8 (I really enjoy mines!). The power is so smooth, you will catch yourself exceeding the limit, a lot lol!! The wings are really going to get you more attention and head turns, so be ready for questions and comments. Again, welcome and enjoy your Genesis.

What does the dealership charge for front and rear wings?

I was insisting on the emblems cuz I agree that they really present the vehicle in a special way.

My wife and I originally wanted black and cashmere or saddle, but none (and none of our other choices!) were to be found. They searched five states and couldn't find us a tech Tau in a color we wanted. The dealer kept offering me the demo, with 500 miles on it, which we didn't really want, so I kept refusing it. Not a thing wrong with it and not a lot of miles, and the dealer had gotten up to $400 off and free front and rear emblems before we accepted it.

I'm glad we did cuz the platinum and black has really grown on me. I LOVE IT!! I prefer it now to our original choices. I thought the black interior would be bland, but it just looks classy and the silver has just the right "look" to me and it's a helluva lot easier to keep clean. :)

We purchased through Costco and really feel that between Costco's offer, the reduction from the dealer, etc., we stole the car.

I couldn't agree more!

And from the folks up here in Canada, a hearty welcome to the newest franchise in the automotive world, GENESIS. To give you an idea of how I've been affected, I just love to wash my car. It's like I enjoy finding dirt on the car just so that I bring her to basement to wash. I complained recently that I ran out of what to do next on my car and thanks to MIDNIGHTSUN, I've ordered the chrome pillars (yeah!, I know some of you gentlemen are against it, but after having seen them, I like them). I even ordered the die-cast Gennie for my den (wait 'til the wife sees that, oy veh!)
Congrats on your purchase>

...I've ordered the chrome pillars (yeah!, I know some of you gentlemen are against it, but after having seen them, I like them).
If - like me - you don't like the chrome after you've installed I can provide some tips on removing them. Just remember the factory finish on the pillars is VERY fragile and can be damaged easily. I would have preferred the factory look, but I marred the factory finish removing the chrome, so I got some black replacements to cover the damage. They look ok, but I wish I had never gotten the chrome in the first place http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/album.php?albumid=290&pictureid=1682

Every add-on is really personal taste. I taped mine on first and then had the better half come out and inspect the outcome. We both said YES, YES, YES (or was that last night. :D) Regardless, I personally think it adds a much needed touch of class to the flat like black finish they used which is about the only darn thing I found lacking in any way on the entire car. If it would have been glossy piano black I may have left it. Love them.

I lived with mine for several days, but the chrome on my black car just didn't look right to me, especially during the day in bright sunlight. I think they look ok on lighter colored cars but on the black it was too much contrast for my taste.

Congrats and welcome, Ckon!
I live in Sterling Heights and work in Troy. A fellow Michigander! :)
Platinum may seem bland but when clean, it looks really gorgeous and classy.
Hope you enjoy the car as much as we all do.

Thanx - we don't see many around here, do we?

I also have a 2010 4Runner Limited that I bought in December and still haven't seen any of those around here, either. I guess that's what happens when you like to drive imports in the Motor City. :) Now I'll have TWO uncommon vehicles.

Congrats on your ride and enjoy!

No we don't. I think I've seen about 6 total since last December.

I know. I used to feel more.. blended in when I was driving my Vette.
Hope to see you around. :)
