  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just wanted to share a story that happened to me today that made me a very happy person!

I recently purchased a 2009 Genesis with only 8,500 miles on it. Yes it was a incredible find!:D The dealership I purchased it from apologized saying they had only one smart key in their position. I was a little irritated as they did not inform me of this until after all the purchase papers were signed and I was the new owner.

Fearing ever loosing the key, I went to the Hyundai stealership where they informed me it would be $295 for a key and an extra $67 to program it. So I decided I would have to wait on that purchase. In the meantime I could not lock the car with the door handle button. It would give me the 3 second tone even though I had the smart key in my pocket. So with that I started to do a little deductive investigative work. I found that I could start the car with the ONE key I had still inside on my night stand. Waaalaaaa! That could only mean one thing. The second magical key had to be somewhere in vehicle...but where!

Common logic tells you it would be under driver seat, side of drivers seat, in the crease of the drivers seat,....nope not that easy. OK how about the passenger seat all those same places....nope. Rear seats....nope. I searched and searched and searched. Finally I was trying to undo the elastic bands that attach to the bottom of the seats for the rear flap. I had my hand way up in the underneath of the seat full of wires and what not. My knuckles hit something that was not tied down nor wrapped in electrical tape. My heartbeat ratcheted up a few beats. I pried, and prodded, just short of bloody knuckles and low and behold there was the second smart key!!!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!;)

It is amazing the little things (although expensive to replace) that make us car owners happy!

As the Good Book says. "Seek and ye shall find!"

Haha great story. Interesting though - wouldn't that make the car easy to steal if the second FOB was inside the car? Like, could you unlock it without having your other FOB in your pocket?

for a minute there i thought he was talking about find the elusive G-spot.

ppp

Thankfully, I never got bloody knuckles searching for the elusive G-spot!

:-) That's awesome!!

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that you found the key in that spot. How in God's name did it get there?

Congrats on finding it. I'm still waiting for the dealership to say they found my second key (I won't hold my breath).

That was BY FAR the most interesting key-finding story I've ever read LOL

It did put a smile on my face though... I recently took a trip to Chicago and took both keys with me JUST IN CASE I lost one, so I wouldn't be stranded at the airport. Well... I thought for sure I lost one of the keys on the airplane. Just when I had given up, I found it in one of the cupholders (which was closed). Happy day.

I can relate!
