Just wanted to share a story that happened to me today that made me a very happy person!
I recently purchased a 2009 Genesis with only 8,500 miles on it. Yes it was a incredible find!
The dealership I purchased it from apologized saying they had only one smart key in their position. I was a little irritated as they did not inform me of this until after all the purchase papers were signed and I was the new owner.
Fearing ever loosing the key, I went to the Hyundai stealership where they informed me it would be $295 for a key and an extra $67 to program it.
So I decided I would have to wait on that purchase. In the meantime I could not lock the car with the door handle button. It would give me the 3 second tone even though I had the smart key in my pocket. So with that I started to do a little deductive investigative work. I found that I could start the car with the ONE key I had still inside on my night stand. Waaalaaaa! That could only mean one thing. The second magical key had to be somewhere in vehicle...but where!
Common logic tells you it would be under driver seat, side of drivers seat, in the crease of the drivers seat,....nope not that easy. OK how about the passenger seat all those same places....nope. Rear seats....nope. I searched and searched and searched. Finally I was trying to undo the elastic bands that attach to the bottom of the seats for the rear flap. I had my hand way up in the underneath of the seat full of wires and what not. My knuckles hit something that was not tied down nor wrapped in electrical tape. My heartbeat ratcheted up a few beats. I pried, and prodded, just short of bloody knuckles and low and behold there was the second smart key!!!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!
It is amazing the little things (although expensive to replace) that make us car owners happy!
