  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had my first service/oil change last Friday. I also had them look at:

1. Wind noise at 70MPH or higher, told them it sounded like driver side rear. They checked and the culprit is the B pillar, which is a plastic piece glued (?) on, but coming loose. They ordered new ones for both sides and will replace.

2. Squealing when backing down the driveway in the morning. My Genesis did the same, so I wasn't too concerned until I tried not using the brake and it still squealed in neutral. Turns out that it's rust on the rear rotors, and they're actually replacing them with a new design/manufacture that will be a new TSB soon for the Equus. So new, in fact, that there isn't a part # assigned yet. But the manufacturer's rep happened to be at my dealer that day so the new rotors were ordered. Note that this isn't a safety issue, and the TSB will be for those with the squeal only (so I'm told).

3. The fuel door "fix" didn't. Had to push on it first, then push the button to get it open. They fixed it for real this time, at least so far.

Minor things, still loving the car and looking forward to another Chicago-Orlando drive in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the info, I'll be watching and listening for a brake rotor squeal. I questioned my dealer about when the first service was required even though I had checked the service manual. Was "kinda" surprised when told, 1000 miles to check things over, change the oil/filter etc., Then again at 3500 miles! When I asked who payed for these additional services, the dance begin. I never did get an answer because I stated that the service manual said the first service was at 7500 miles. I phoned Hyundai to which the reply was I would be charged for additional services unless the dealer agreed to pay! I think I know how this will play out when I get to 1000 and again 3500 miles. Oh yes, I'll go out of my way to play this game. Been there, done that with our Genny. My service manager now calls me Sir! ;) Btw only 600 miles on the "horse" but so far love the ride!

Since you're interested:

The squeal only happened after the car sat at least 8 hours, and not every day. Only in reverse, and only at the that first drive. Backing up 5 minutes after driving all was cool.

It also sounds like your dealer is playing games with you re service. As you know, all "scheduled" service is free for 5 years/60 months. To pad the official schedule at your expense would have me looking for a different dealer for service. Any Equus dealer can do it, and since Hyundai pays them it shouldn't matter if you bought it there or not.
Fwiw, I had a great experience with Orlando Hyundai last April:
Took the Horse to them for a "quick wash" after the 1200 mile drive from Chicago. 45 (impatient) minutes later they finally gave me my car:
Showroom detailed, inside & out, no charge!
Service above and beyond. I only mention it because it may be worth your hour and a half (?) drive to check them out.
I'll be stopping there again in a couple of weeks (repeat trip). If they've changed attitudes I'll let you know.
Good luck!

My dealership has never given me any trouble re: servicing the Equus. I had them change the oil for the first time at 3000 miles.

They are almost over the top with how great they treat me, and I've never had them keep score about how much I use the service department. Car is always returned to me super clean, even polishing the chrome wheels.
