  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am a relatively new owner with the 100K 10 year warranty. I purchased the vehicle new. Driving through heavy rains a couple of the computer modules were flooded.
They need to be replaced. My service department is saying the warranty does not cover this issue. They are telling me it's an insurance claim. Can someone share their experience on this?

Your service department is correct. The manufacturer's warranty only covers defects in the product, not damage caused by collision, driving through excessively high water, etc. Not even homeowners insurance covers damage to a house due to rising water, unless one specifically purchases flood insurance. However, most auto insurance does cover rising water, so contact your auto insurance agent.

Insurance. flood is not the manufacturer's fault nor is it the dealer's. You drove through the water and it could be all on you. Your Insurance claim may be denied.

It might be worthwhile to get an estimate from the dealer and have that in hand when talking to your insurance provider. Make sure to let them know the exact circumstances so they can help you as best as possible.

Well you already know where that blame lies. Having said that, your insurance company are the ones to go after, not Hyundai. But my experience has been....good luck with that one.Once they lay the blame "solely" on your shoulders for happening, case closed!
