Floor Mat Removal??

I have a CPO 2009 Genesis sedan and wanted to remove the front floor mats for cleaning. They appear to be held in place by a black rubber grommet. I cannot remove. Came close to tearing the carpet.

Never had a problem removing floor mats in 50 years. Any thoughts??
