In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Well I finally brought in my 2016 for the Flutter issue along with the Pano roof noise, shifting drivers seat, vibration, random loss of sound and to have them program my Card Key. Don't think they were very happy to see me again after all the issues I had with my Sonata but the dealer was very friendly and made a complete list of every issue or annoyance that I have had with the car and then put me in a 2018 3.3T Sport which I wasn't expecting. Ill update the other threads for the flutter, roof and card key once they address these issues. But so far they didn't seem to doubt or question any of my issues like I had in the past with the Sonata. I also offered them videos of the issues just incase they couldn't replicate them and they declined and even stated that it may take a while to order a replacement pano roof unlike my Sonata where they tried to repair it multiple times before just replacing it. I must say though that my drive to work in the 3.3T Sport was nice! Don't really care for the interior of the car but wow this thing takes off like a rocket vs my 3.8. Suspension is definitely a lot stiffer and the cabin seems a bit louder than my 3.8 but the power is where these cars should be. Hope to hear it's going to take a few days to fix!

Fix? Just call them and trade it in, they will swap plates to the Sport when you get back.

Power wise, its where the normal g80 should be, the sport should be in the 500 range.

Update: Dealer had the car for 2 days last week and then called me and said no noise from the roof, drive shaft, brake pedal nor could they replicate any of the other issues. I offered to send them the videos of all the issues that I recorded and they refused saying unless they see it in person they won’t touch it. So I picked up the car Wednesday night and Thursday it was raining but Friday it was cool and sunny and as soon as I pulled out of my driveway......Flutter flutter flutter rattle rattle rattle pop pop pop. So I went directly to the dealer and after over an hour wait they finally pulled a tech to go for a ride with me. He had a hard time at first hearing the drive shaft issue since the car was no longer cold and the noise was “hard to hear over the noise from the pano roof”. His own words. But after closing the sun shade and opening the center console he confirmed the flutter and of course the really noisy pano roof and also the noise coming from the brake pedal. Dropped it off again on Monday and waiting to see what they say this time. I did have my dashcam in the car recording the test drive with the tech just in case corporate needs to get involved but I'm hopeful that they will correct this. They did at least get my smart card key programmed. They said they never got one successfully programed before. Don’t know what the issue was or where others got their car keys from but they had no issue programming mine.

Sounds about typical service response. But just keep pushing.

It's best to insist on having the tech ride with you. When I got my 2015 Genesis, I had a hand full of things that needed attention.
When I got the car back after the first visit, most of it came back "could not replicate problem"
I came back to the dealer, and politely asked for the service manager. I requested to have a tech ride with me so he could observe the issues. I did that. The tech discovered that I was discerning, but not unreasonable, and the issues were real. He was able to confirm, and solve all of them. I've got a go to guy at my dealer now. As a bonus, for a couple of things that have popped up since, he takes my word for it if it's a known issue with a solve. (Example : Lights going off due to bad turn signal stalk. He knows I won't waste his time, and it's a serious issue. He confirms the problem, and HMA authorizes the repair.)

While I understand that dealers can't just go crazy with parts swapping and needless labor, they should be more active in taking care of the customer, and even suggesting that the tech rides with you to help solve the issue.

On my 2016, 2nd time I complained about noise from Pano roof when opened. Dealer told me they replaced the guides and roof still made noise when going over any little road imperfection. He called Hyundai and they told him to replace the entire pano roof. Will get it done in a day or so once roof comes in. Then they can also fix the passenger seat re-tractor and the sun glass holder which will not open to give access to sun glasses.

i just picked up my 2016... I noticed the sunroof squeaks from time to time while closed. Is this the issue you all are describing in the posts above? Sounds like I should take it in for a look.

There are varying degrees of anomaly. If it's just a squeak, then get some lithium grease and apply it to the rubber seal between the sunroof glass and body. Some people have rattle problems which are much worse than just the squeak.

Mine wasn't an occasional squeak when turning or hitting a bump which I would find completely acceptable. Mine was constant cracking and squeaking no matter how smooth the road was or the weather outside. It was just louder at times depending on the road or weather. They have had the car for almost a week and a half now so I assume they are replacing the roof assembly itself. If you have one that only occasionally makes the annoying noise I myself would just let it go since it’s a lot of work to replace these pano roofs and then you risk having the roof squeak/crack corrected only to have the headliner and pillar panels to start making noise. That happened to my last Sonata and it took months and multiple week long trips to the shop until they got it all corrected after they replacing those parts as well. Even the 2018 G80 they put me in makes some noise but on a 1-10 scale my car would have been a high 8.5 where this 2018 is a 1-2. I would be perfectly happy with the roof movement in the 2018. As stated above just keeping the seals greased will help a lot if yours is just a minor issue.

Thanks guys... mine is tolerable (I also drive a lifted Wrangler Rubicon that will rattle and jar your teeth out so I think I'll survive ;)). I'll apply lithium grease as suggested above and avoid the pains of a replacement understanding the additional problems that can occur!!

After just over two weeks I got the call that they are done with my car today. Rear drive shaft was replaced, brake pedal assembly replaced and stop pin. Roof pulled and all seals, tracks and hardware replaced which they said they had to do 5 times until they got it to stop creaking. Going to pick it up tonight so hopefully everything will be in working order. One thing I won’t miss on the loaner G80 is the 15 MPG in city driving!

RyanB, any update on the issues? Dealership get them all fixed? Thank you.

Sorry for the delay I took the family on spring break just after picking up the car so I only drove it for 3 days since getting it back last month before we flew out. However the flutter is gone and so is the vibration from the rear end while making hard 90 degree turns. They also fixed the popping noise coming from the brake pedal after replacing the entire assembly. The roof was great for 2 days then I opened it while it was warm at lunch on the 3rd day and that night it was creaking again but only from the pass side now. But today on my way to work it was silent again so who knows how long this will last for. I also now have a rattle on the driver’s side headliner. Sounds like a clip was not installed properly or is broken. The sound is faint but right at ear level so it’s annoying. If the roof gets worse again I will take it in for then to adjust both but for now it’s good enough.
