  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a way to copy Folders from a USB to the Jukebox? I have all folders on my USB stick. I would love to have the folders copy over so it is easy to get to different types of music. I did copy all the music to the Jukebox, but there are no folders to sort by. Having to go through 2000+ songs alphabetically, by artist or Genre is not acceptable to me. My folders are like playlists. I guess if it is not possible, I will just have to leave my thumb drive in there as I can search by folders using that method. Thanks in advance!

I'd like to know what Jukebox does that is better than just plugging in a thumdrive. ????

how about someone explain what Jukebox is

I have been messing with it this weekend. Haven't found the need for folders yet as I have just been trying to activate 5.1 DTS on the Jukebox, only around 10 files in Audio, about 10 Seinfeld episodes in video and 1 photo.

Their specifications for Audio are listed incorrectly in the owners manual. I can confirm that AAC works as an audio file type BTW.

I will monkey with folders today and see If there is anything. I suspect the folders you get may just be one for audio, video, and photos, which is ridiculous when you think about it.

For the post directly above, JukeBox is the sizeable hard drive that is available for the Lexicon Infotainment system. It allows you to store files from a USB device directly on the hard drive.

In the manual it alludes to being able to search folders on page 60:

"Search
This feature is used to search files by folder, artist, album, song, or genre.
1. In the play screen, press →[Search].
2. From one of the available categories, select the file you wish to play."

Wonder if you need to go old school with early DOS folder naming conventions like all caps or x number of characters?

No folders. I think they forgot to add the functionality to the Copy to Jukebox command. It appears to be just an after thought. Local storage becomes more and more obsolete the more Wifi and Cellular become omnipresent.

Using the USB has more functionality as you mention. Even the 60gb hard drive Jukebox is nothing compared to what you can get on a USB. They practically give 60gb USB sticks away at this point.

Only advantage to the on board drive I would think would be speed, which can be a big one.

Speed to do what? Music plays fine on a USB.

Messing around with the jukebox and saved several songs and images. Now I cannot seem to delete a file, the delete selection is grayed out.

So far, I think it would be easiest to just use a thumb drive and not copy to the jukebox hard drive. This interface definitely needs some improvement.

I will try playing off of the USB. I have had cars with hard drives in te past, and it was normally must faster to search, sort, and things like that with a drive rather than a USB.

In regards to this issue, I got me wondering if this would be addressed in an update for the software.

I found an update site for Hyundai, but nothing under Genesis or Lexicon websites; anyone had any luck with locating where the download page might be?

I suspect since I couldn't find anything, one has not been released yet.

I have a newly acquired 2017 G90. I love it, but I find the file/folder issues via USB thumbdrive to be screwy. It is not straight forward at all and some files & folders don't even appear. It's unpredictable at best. Are there certain characters within file names that need to be avoided, or any tips someone can offer to help smooth out this mess?

I put my titles in album folders and when I search I do so by album. I have a program that automatically adds an increasing number to each title so they stay in the correct order. Never had a folder that didn’t show. This works fine for me. Let me know if you have further questions. BTW this has nothing to do with the jukebox (which I have no use for) which is the Genesis hard drive. My folders are on my usb stick.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I think I will avoid the Jukebox too. I appreciate the tips you have provided and will move ahead accordingly. Do I need to be careful when naming folders or song files? For example: are spaces prohibited or certain characters... that sort of thing?

Never tried special character but I have never had to edit a song or album title. Spaces are fine.

Good news. Thanks again.

By the way, when you "rename" the song titles to keep them in their original order within their respective folders does your software just add a digit that preceeds the original title? Or does it follow the title?

Adds a digit that precedes the title. For example if it’s the second track it adds 02 before the title.

Of course, that makes sense. I found a free software called Rename that does this perfectly. I know this has been a long standing problem for people who create playlists in a specific order only to have their devices play them back in alphabetical order. I'll get into it. Thankyou!

I had great success! I also learned that pressing the 'menu' button while in the music mode brings up all those great choices and then choosing 'search' allows me to open individual folders with separate albums (yup, I'm new to this). The great news for me is that this system will actually play lossless FLAC files too which surprised the hell out of me. I have been trying to relocate all of my music and replace the files in FLAC so this is good news. I think a lot of people seem disappointed by this system with their comments about how all of their music files seem to appear in one long list, which they do in some windows, but if you dig deeper as I have mentioned above you can pretty much organize your music anyway you like and this simple little FREE "Rename" program keeps everything in order and is VERY easy and to use. You can rename your files very quickly. Thanks again to Mcc for the inspiration to get into all of this.

Glad it’s all working out. I use a similar program. I can’t remember if it is called rename. But that does sound familiar. When I put several songs together to create a new album you need to edit file details so that it reflects the new album’s name or else it won’t be grouped properly. Just putting them in the same folder is not sufficient. It doesn’t really look at folders, it looks at the file details so it can group by album, or performer, etc. Finally if you don’t search by album but just let it play then the order is all mixed up.

I guess I haven't gotten far enough into it to learn its shortcomings. I am still playing around with it so I'll let you know how I make out and if I learn anything along the way that might be worth passing along.

Thanks!
