  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Fond memories - back in the day (50's) my buddies and I would pile into somebody's car and drive to Wattsburg, PA, about 35 miles, and watch while guys with much more permissive (or, more likely, lied-to;)) dads than ours abused the family sedan in the quarter mile.

I just learned that the Wattsburg drag strip is still in operation 55 years later. My dad's car - a 57 Pontiac Bonneville - blew the wheels off all of my friends' family cars on local back roads, but I never had the moxie to run it on the strip.

I remember how amazed we all were that there were other teens who could actually afford a car of their own, let alone have enough money to soup them up.

Thanks for posting this - takes me back a bit.

What the hell was that?

I wasn't even a thought back then. If I can't watch it on my iPhone it is useless to me.

I met Wally Parks back in 2004 at SEMA. Took this video myself. Look for Wally in the 1958 film at time stamp 24:55 he was the founder of NHRA.

John Force and Don Purdhomme were there also.

Believe it or not, everybody has a life - even us old guys. We just have a little more history than the younger guys...
