  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Coming over from the Mach E forum, I hate how the subjects are covered up by pop-up stuff and remarks when you hover over them. Like the info here, just frustrated when trying to open a discussion and can't get to it with the popups.

Jeff- I don't know who owns/runs the Mach E forum, but this one is done by one guy, Sal. He can fund it one of two ways: pop-ups, or memberships. There's a little box on the bottom right of the site where you can become a member. 😉

Have you signed up to be a contributing member? For $20 a year, there is a lot of information and fun here.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have never had popups member or not.

Not really advertising popups.....When you put your mouse pointer over a thread it pulls up all these previous comments and info on the poster and makes it hard to click into that thread is what I meant. I just have to get used to it I guess as I spend a lot of time in forums.

I think by "popups" he is referring to this when you hover over a link:

I agree it is kind of annoying but that's just how XenForo forums work. I'm sure the XenForo developers think that is a premium feature that they worked hard on.

Personally, my preference for forum hosting software is Discourse, but I'm sure it would be a lot of work to migrate from XenForo to Discourse at this point. Plus Discourse hosting is a bit more expensive. I think this forum software works pretty well, I've definitely seen far worse.

For those of you that have never heard of Discourse:

There's a link to XenForo at the bottom of this page (and every page on this forum).

I've never had those thread previews obstruct the link to the thread itself. I like that feature on most forums. Sometimes it lets me see quickly if I'm interested in the thread or not.

With the recent iOS 18 update, I selected Dark Mode as my preferred setting, and am now reading the forum for the first time on my device.
The forum does not do Dark mode well. The main page where the various threads are listed has blue text on a black background - not easy to read. I find the difference between the bolded/unbolded text (to identify threads with new posts) barely noticeable.

Whoa! Suddenly a new black background.

And missing information on each poster on the left.

Count me in as the grumpy guy who doesn't like change as well. Grr. But it looks like you can hover over the poster's name to get that information that used to display without the hovering.

I do that, but I don't see car model and year. I know that not everybody added that or kept it up to date, but it was useful when it was there.

I see that. Boo. And I agree that info was useful.

Having the vehicle detail in a signature is helpful. More detail as well. I copied someone's signature last year.

Now this forum looks the same as pretty much every other forum I browse. It's pretty much par for the course with most forums now.

In case it's not obvious the forum now is following your system theme by default which might be dark (mine was). Can change this by scrolling to bottom of most (all?) of the forum pages and change your prefs via the Style Variation icon. It's also the first setting in the full preferences page.
