Forum Spam

I notice more forum spam happening over the last week or two. I know I can ignore specific posters, but is there a way for moderators to block the IP so they can't re-register?

The spam bots have found us. Please report spam by using the "report post" feature - which is the little white and red icon at the right side of each post. One of us on the team will take care of it immediately. Every time a member is caught spamming, they're banned.

The system we have in place allows us to delete the post, delete ALL the user's other posts, and ban the member simultaneously.

Another thing I noticed an hour or so ago when i tried to get on here, it would randomly bring me to another website. The first one it brought me too was like a website to meet people but it was called "Meet Black People" then I tried to get back on again and then it re-directed me to some website asking me if I wanted to buy designer shoes or something like that. It's not doing it now so that's a plus

Sounds alot like a local issue in your browser. Scan for local viruses, like NOW!

I had the "Meet Black People" thing happen to me a couple of times yesterday (2/20/2009) also. I thought I may have accidently clicked on one of the pop ups.

Sounds like a browser hijacker.

Download this and scan your computer, it normally catches those annoying buggers.

noticed several spam posts the last few days. Reporting now

The moderators did a great job removing the spams that I reported using the little Red and White icon in the upper right corner. When I logged on a couple hours later, the spam was gone.

Thanks for your help guys. It's easier to report the post so when we click on it, we can kill the spam more efficiently.
