Fraying nylon braid? 5.0 engine wiring harness

What do you guys make of this? I don't really see any damage to the wires inside. I'm sort of thinking rodent damage, particularly since this is a 22k mi car and may well have spent some prolonged time parked. Or is is a friction issue? I don't really see any droppings, but something's been scraping at that foam underneath, too.

Thanks for the extra sets of eyes -- that's what think is most likely. Really more because of the damage to that foam in the valley below, as I can't make much other sense of it.

I guess it's not a huge deal if the wires themselves are intact, since I can just tape over the frayed wrap, but it's annoying that it wasn't disclosed, just the same.
