What is the benefit of a spoiler like this? Does it provide more downforce? Does it keep the back window clean? Or is it purely cosmetic?

I ask because I have never seen a spoiler at the top of the back window like this before. It looks like it might a point of excessive wind noise in and around the rear window at highway speeds.

Cosmetic only. Seen them on other cars before such as Mustangs. Doesn't twirl my beanie though.
