Front grill different than stock

Hi folks !

I'm not a owner of a Genesis now, but next monday I will pick up mine !

I'm basically a french guy, living in Quebec, Canada so guys please be cool about my english writting


I have to take plane to pick up my Genesis next monday because the car are at 700km of my town. I didn't see the car in person but the seller have answer of all my questions and there have a bunch of pictures to see the car in all angle. The Genesis never been wreck, and still under warranty. It's a Genesis sedan 4.6 2009 tech package.

I notice something on the picture that I'm a bit confused.
Do you think this front grill are stock ?
There is less chrome than normal grill, and that's seem was painted the same color of the car and the job look very well done. I prefer that than the normal grill with much more chrome.
Have you ever see this grill before ?
or it's surely homemade mod ?

(I buy the left car, is dark blue)

There are some old threads in this forum where owners discussed taking their grill to a paint shop and having it painted to match their paint color.

It does, doesn't it, though MADMOE's had a license plate and frame, which could have been removed before the pics were shot. Either way, I think it looks great.

Tomorrow I will pick up my new Genesis and I will let you know if the paint job was well done !

I have had three Genesis. I color matched the grills on the first two, and am leaving the current stock. I do a lot of highway driving, and the aftermarket paint job on the grills, though of high quality, did suffer from road chips. Looked into a "clear bra", but none of the mfgs. I queried cover the grill. I kept the grills looking good from 10 feet so long as I touched up the road chips.

I got my Genesis !

I did 700km to come back to home, and........................ this car are awesome !!! It drive itself !!!!
And I was able to do 7.3L/100km (32MPG) for about 400km ! I think the computer are very "positive" . I suppose the real consumption are more than that.
Off topic question :
How to cancel the navigation rapidly ?
The only way I found is to delete destination point in menus

I know I can "suspend" , but if I want "delete" the does it exist rapid button ?

I decided to try it myself (I got a spare grill on Ebay for $25 just in case). Unfortunately my average skills weren't good enough (glad I did it on the spare grill); I'll have a body shop do it right. If you want to try it yourself the materials will cost about $60 (including shipping).

I bought all the materials to do the job at Automotivetouchup.com. I bought the following: a can each of adhesive promoter, primer, base color paint, and clear coat. I also got assorted wet sandpaper, 3M automotive masking tape, and a couple tack cloth (you'll also need a 3M light gray sanding pad). They also have good instructions.
