Electronically controlled retractable "stow & go" license plate holders are available for around $100.

Pricey, yes, but when you get pulled you can surreptitiously press a button and then say, "But officer, you must be mistaken - I DO have a front plate!"

I took my front plate off today. I solved the problem by just moving about 1300 miles to a state that only has one plate. A little expensive, but worth it to get rid of the plate. Only reason we moved.

In Texas, anything that covers (obscures) the plate is illegal.
