  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Front License Plate

The dealer I bought the car from simply tossed it in the trunk along with a couple of other goodies like a cargo net. SO I suspect it is part of their CPO package. The salesman did warn me that California license plates have been taking a LONG time to issue for used car sales.

My front license bracket came in a sealed plastic bag in the trunk. And it's now in my office, still in the sealed plastic bag where it will stay, permanently. :)

Why not sell it to me if you have no use for it? :)

What would you guys use for filling in the old drill holes? Was thinking I'd fill with something and then hit it with some black plastidip, possibly along the whole inside of the grill.

Barely noticeable so I never filled mine. If I ever do I'd buy a tube of black silicone caulk.

Can you post pics where we can see the whole car from the front and slightly off to one side to better see how this plate placement looks? Thanks!
Whoa! This thread is a bit stale, but I needed it now. Did your dealer use all four screws to install it? I did it myself, but had to punch through the painted surface to place the two lower screws. The material you're installing into seems the same whether the black in the grill area, or the painted surface below the grill.

And yet they still get hosed.
I must agree that the front license plate absolutely ruins the look of the front end completely. More so for the 2015 design.
Mine (the coupe version) has been in the 4th year running without one (in Texas), fingers crossed.:D
I live near Dallas, but got pulled over an hour away in Athens, TX (East TX) by a State Trooper. He literally pulled me over just because I didn’t have my front plate displayed....RIDICULOUS!!! Luckily, I got out of it with a warning instead of a ticket.

So after eyeing this thread, I decided to try it myself. I can say it looks pretty good where its at, feels like it should be there from factory. But it can differ from person to person. Here's a before and after. Before picture was taken May 2020, and after picture was today after relocating it. Now all I have to do is find something to cover the holes that were left behind from regular plate location. (Also PSA about the current scratches on the bumper, I had bought the car like that back in February of 2020. Will be fixing all that hopefully this summer) Genny_2.webpIMG_5678.webp

Marginally better. The best solution is to move to a state with no front plate and no inspection sticker on the windshield. At least move to a state with a better color combination for your car.

Texas is strict as well. I wish I could take it off but placing my license plate in the windshield isn't too visually appealing either on such a nice car lol

I can't take the 360.00 fine lol
Placing in the windshield will not stop a ticket in texas either...still a violation...needs to be fixed to the front of the car
