  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking to do maybe a over haul on my 09. She needs the blancer changed and assuming to do the front main seal. Any advice or pics would be great. Also have oil splatter everywhere on the front of the engine. Alt is covered in oil and needs changing to but want to solve the oil problem first. Could the 2 be related? Thank you all for your help

I have not performed an front cover seal on a Genesis, but it seem fairly straight forward if you have done this type of repair before on other cars. It seems that you will have to remove the radiator(or just fans) and the accessories like the alternator, ac compressor, and the crank pulley. RWD cars are usually easier to access the front cover on an engine than FWD cars.

Going by your description it does seem like the oil leak could be a front cover seal, however it could also be an leaky oil-cooler line(if the 3.8 has one) or even valve cover gasket as well. So I would give the engine a very good inspection before cracking open the front cover.

Note: Some front covers also require removing the upper oil pan(or just few bolts located in the lower oil pan area) as well; so it can be a pain in the ass job.

Thanks for the info and I sure will look to see if there is a cooler line maybe leaking and I'm hoping it's just the main seal because I don't think it's the cover gasket but I'm no pro so I'm here asking for help. And thank thank you for some insight on my problem
