  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Issue: front sensors don't work, I see 2 missing blue caps. Exhausted my options including dealership.

Hello forum members, I am a long time lurker and finally decided to make an accound here because I am hoping someone is knowledgeable about a particular issue I have and can assist me. I will ask the question directly in order to save time. My car's front sensors do not work and i get the warning message and beep on the tach screen every 5 seconds it seems.

My car is missing these 2 Blue plugs that complete the circuit, they are like caps. My rear bumper has 2 of them at th3 end of the terminals but I am missing 2 on the front bumper. I cannot find these online as the number on them is not really a partnumber and the dealer doesnt have them either and can only sell me a cable harness for hundreds of dollars. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get these or if they will even enable my front sensors again? I would really appreciate it guys.

My guess is that they are just jumpers if they really only complete the circuit. If you can verify that fact you could just fabricate a pair of short jumpers to do the job. Is there continuity between the two connectors in the plug? If not, DO NOT jump the connection as you would just be creating a short.

Hey, what do you mean by 'missing'? Do you have a loose connector where you could just plug those blue ones onto? I don't get it. A picture would be great. As long as you don't have loose connectors, I wouldn't assume all have to be the same. If you have loose connectors NOT CAPPED, that'd mean something is amiss. But if all looks connected, the issue might be something else, like a faulty module. Finally, there might be a soft code lodged in your ECU, and only a dealer could retrieve it. I haven't read of software we could use on Hyundais/Kias/Genesis vehicles, unfortunately, like FORScan on Fords and Mazdas, etc. I also had a cable for my ex-Audi and Porsche, but not for these Asian vehicles. Good luck.

Hi Chuck, here is what the rear plugs look like on the attached image. It might be hard to see because i took the shot from an angle that obstructs the view of one of the plugs but they are symmetrical and you can see one of them clearly.

The front is basically the same but the 2 blue plugs are missing and you can see the exposed white sockets. I could not swap them out to test because the 2 on the front andvthe 2 on the rear have a different number of pins and are not swappable.

If I had soneone fabricate the 2 for the front do you think the circuit will complete snd sensirs start working? Not sure about the continuity question so I posted a screenshot. Thank you.

Here is what they look like on the attached images. These are actually from my rewr under the b7mper. The front uses these as well i would assume, I just can't get them as they dont seem to be a part you can buy. The dealer cant order them slone and would need to sell me an entire harness. I bought my car as is with no parts warranty at a discounted price after a low speed collision caused by the dealer i bought it from (across the country) and it was one of their fleet vehicles.

Seems like they replaced everything and the bumper as well but might have forgotten these plugs. My theory is that these complete the circuit and if i can get someone to fabricate then maybe the alarm/ message will dissappear and the sensirs work? Everything else is thete and works on my car. I ask because I'd like to know if i do something like that that I dont cause damage to my electrical components. This is a bit of specific knowledge here so either way thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

I can’t give any informed answer. Can you try a junkyard for the missing pieces?

Looked once and no luck because they typically only get old cars. Maybe ill have to give it time or find a junkyard that gets newer vehicles. Thanks for that input

I don't see anything in-focus in your picture that looks like the blue "cap". Did the blue one come off of your rear bumper (since the fronts are supposedly missing).
It sounds like the dealer screwed you a bit and didn't fully put the car back together.

I was going to ask you if you had an accident or something, and you already answered that, so now it's clear to everybody what's happening (it's not the car). Your best bet is to ask for a picture of a car like yours, to know exactly what's missing. But you already know it cannot be fixed by just buying those parts alone, so you only have 2 options. Go back to the dealer who screwed you, or wait until you can find a wrecked car like yours in a junk yard. But these cars are 'rare' (I haven't even seen one in my city of 1M people), so I'd try the dealer first. Good luck.

Hello Husky, i have attached the image and circled the 2 blue plugs from my rear bumper. I apologize it isnt the best picture as it is difficult to get the phone into that space. It looks like there will be 2 of these as well for the front end (everything there minus the blue caps) but the dealer doesnt sell these separately.

Like the other user ckon said I have tried to look in salvage yards but these cars dont make it to salvage yards as all the yards ive seen around me only purchase older/ cheaper vehicles (i have 2 large ones near me).

I knew the car wasn't going to be perfect as i got it for a large discount and had to purchase 2 small parts. This is one part i can't purchase alone and they missed it as an oversight i believe because its attached to the bumper and it seems like an easy thing for overlook if you're swapping a front bumper.

I realize I'm in a very uncommon situation and think I'll have to live without the front sensors until one day I stumble in this part or get an electrician to come up with a sensible solution. If anything at least my issue creates more documentation for someone else who might need it.

I'll hold off on overpaying for that harness for now as this is not a feature i cant live without, if i find a junked car these items will be worth very little to get im sure.

No luck there as the junkyards I've seen don't purchase new cars like these, but it seems the cheapest route. Ill check online and see if a junkyard that has the car would be willing to ship the parts. I know its a thing because my father has a few contacts he uses and they will sell you the parts even over the phone. Thanks for this tip.
