  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, my 2011 4.6 has an issue with no heat on driver's seat. Turning it on results in light blinking and no heat. The "cushion, driver" is north of $400, but could it simply be the switch? What is the troubleshooting procedure to determine this problem? Any help greatly appreciated...

Any good upholstery shop can uncover the seat and replace the heat element for $100 or less.

Dealer told me that the heater was integral to the cushion on this? Slightly better price here: 2011-2014 Hyundai Genesis Cushion Cover 88160-3M112-RHX | HyundaiWorld

Heating element is velcroed onto the foam, Take the leather cover off, take the element out, replace element, recover done.

Kind of a How to here: Heated Seat Failure and DIY Repair

Heating elements here: Hyundai Genesis Seat Heaters at Andy's Auto Sport

Dealer likely can only order it as a single part, an upholstery shop can replace/repair.

I’ve replaced several on different makes/models over the years and even added them to cars that didn’t come with them including my 1939 Ford Street Rod. They are all made the same. Element is velcroed to the foam, and the element is the same type used for a heating pad or heated blanket.

Thank You Mr. Incredible - You definitely live up to your name LOL

Thanks.

Based on what I am reading on this forum, it’s likely the element, it seems that the Hyundai units wear out from entering/exiting and movement in the seat causing the copper wires to break. Looking at pictures they appear to burn the foam as well.

Seems like s bad design to me, not so sure I like the idea of the seat foam burning 9r my ass catching fire if they short.

At least they appear to have a safety built in that prevents them from activating in this situation, still rather disconcerting though.
