If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello. I got new tires on my 2013 Genesis R Spec sedan last week, current milage is about 95,000 miles. The old tires showed extra wear on edge of tire. So after having new tires installed, I went to get a wheel alignment. After alignment the shop showed me the measurements. Castor and toe all 4 tires are within specs. Back tires camber are within spec. But front tires camber is still out of spec between -1.3 and -1.5. The shop told me there is no adjustment for front tire camber. They recommend replacing upper control arms both sides. Before I start throwing parts at car I’d like to know if anybody has any experience with this issue. Thank you!

Its non adjustable. They come from the factory with a bit of negative camber. The bushing are probably worn.

Shop was correct as there is no camber adjustment in the front. My car has similar excessive negative camber. Yes it wears tires unevenly as the front inside edges will show cords by the time the outside edges are at 2/32nds.

The bonus of negative camber is that the car will have improved cornering grip, particularly with the heavy v8 in front. Tramlining is not an issue with my Pilot Sport 4S's. I prefer this setup which is well suited to spirited driving, and quite good on the roundabouts in my town. And I get 30kmi+ out of a set of tires, which is fine. So for me, being slightly out of spec is a plus.

Thank you for the info. I installed Michelin Pilot Sports 4's too. Second set for me, I love them. Where I live, I have 15 miles of winding roads just to get down to edge of town. For me, the downfall to the negative camber is I'm only getting about 25,000 miles out of set of Michelins. Way short of their 45,000 mile warranty. The edge wears out but still have 4/32's of main tread left. And I'm pretty good at rotating tires every 5,000 miles, but that doesn't seem to matter. This is my wife's car, so I don't get too much joy of driving the car. I'm finding the general consensus is to replace upper control arms to try and bring camber back into spec, bushings and ball joints could be wore out. I'll keep my finger's crossed and hope that helps.

Yep, of course the manual presumes factory perfection and the only way the camber can be out of spec is if the parts are "bent or damaged."

Yes I will post updates. It will be a few days before I get started. BTW, do you know torque settings for the bolts on the upper control arms. I couldn't find any. Please advise.

To review, I have a 2013 Genesis R-Spec sedan, original owner. approx 100,000 miles. So I started off with -1.2 degree camber on left front and -1.6 degree camber on the right front. I bought the +1 degree camber shims from Specialty Products Co in CO. Installation was very straight forward and I also changed out my rotors and pads at the same time. The original brakes had over 100,000 miles on them! I went and got a new allignment. The new readings are as follows: -0.01 degree camber on left and -0.8 degree camber on the right. The toe had to be adjusted too. So now both sides are back with in spec and I am very satisfied with the new numbers. The shims cost about $50 for ea side. 2 shims per side, one for the knuckle and one for the brake caliper. The hardest part was being sure I installed the shims in the correct orientation. LOL. The shims are well made and clearly marked.

Sorry just saw this reply, here are the specs. How does your car drive now that you have the camber in spec?

I can’t tell any difference in handling. I’m just hoping I get more then 25,000 miles out of this set of Michelins. 🤞. The inside tread wore out before the rest of the tread wore out.
