Fuel Gauge has a mind of its own!

Hello, today I was driving my '13 Genesis Sedan, 46k miles and in the line at a drive-thru my fuel gauge reading a nearly full tank decided to drop its needle all the way down to E. The car was still running and on the info center of the dash it read " --- MPG".

After I drove off it went back to normal and read that I had almost a near full tank again. Then as I turned into my drive-way the SAME thing happened! The needle dropped to E.

Does anyone know what's going on? Or has had something similar happen?

Most likely your fuel level sender inside the gas tank is failing. Your car would be the "right" age for that. I have heard claims that sometimes adding a fuel cleaner, like Techron can restore it for a little while. However, I have never seen this actually work. I think you'll probably have to replace the sender.
