If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had to have the car (2009 4.6 w/ tech) towed to the dealer last night after it stalled on the highway and wouldn't move much at all. I was thinking maybe a alternator / battery issue beings i haven't replaced the battery yet, but the dealer called this morning and said it was a bad fuel pump and that it would be replaced under warranty.

I picked up the car this afternoon and the service guy said he has never seen a genesis or any other hyundai's fuel pump fail or need replaced at 55k miles. he asked me where i purchased my fuel from and i told him usually sams. he said that you may be harming the fuel pump because supposedly, sams and costco gas has more alcohol in it.

i have swirtched between 91 and 87 octane at times , but mostly always running 91 as i think the car runs better and i can feel the increased hp.

Glad it happened before the 60k mark, as i'm sure the pump and labor would have been north of 600.00. still, not sure i want to keep the car after 60k w/o a warranty.

the car just came out of the shop 2 weeks ago for the brake recall, and warranty work w/ the steering wheel tilt failure and the remote entry / push start problems w/ the key remote. they gave me a camry rental car from hertz, for no cost, for the 3 days the car was there and they ended up replacing both remotes and replacing the module / switch for the steering wheel tilt. the transmission occasional knock and loss of power in 1st gear i used to get when flooring the pedal, they said was fine and they couldn't replicate it. i went with the tech w/ the test drive and told him i could replicate it, but he wouldn't let me try. he tried and floored it a couple of times to no avail- oh well.

overall i like this dealer and the level of service provided, just not sure i want to own this car past the warranty which is coming up in a few months.

Had the fuel filter been replaced at 30 months? Has the fuel tank air filter been replaced? Both these should have been replaced per maintenance schedule. Its possible that a restricted fuel filter caused stress on the pump. Just something to think about when the repair cost could be out of your pocket.

Sorry to hear about your troubles:( I also had my fuel pump replaced, but this happened at 23,000 miles. I drove all over the city with my brother and parents in the car. I arrived at my parents house to drop off my mom and I shut the car off. After a few minutes, I hit the start button, but the engine would only crank, but wouldn't start. Called the line for a free tow to my dealership (Walser Hyundai Brooklyn Park, MN) and got a loaded Veracruz for a loaner. Didn't take long, and the dealer verified bad fuel pump. They ordered the part which took I believe only 1 day to arrive and replace and have been fine ever since.

I've stated many times on this forum over the years that I store my car in the winters......I used Seafoam for storage in the fuel tank and which I was warned was too potent, but I have no idea if this was the cause of the fuel pump fail. I now use Stable for winter. No issues since then, but I really don't feel you have much to worry about with your car. I also have a 2009 4.6 w/tech.

Other then the fuel pump, the only other repair I've had is the driver side heated seat, which wouldn't stay on only after a few seconds and would literally smell like cat piss.....super weird. Brought to said dealer and was replaced right away and works great ever since. BTW, if you check my profile page I have my engine oil analysis results available. I'm going to put my car away for winter probably by December 1st, and I will be sending in another oil sample to Black Stone Labs........

the car was already 2 years old -16k miles- when i bought it from carmax, so i'm not sure if it was changed.

So answer is no since you owned the car at 30 months. The services were not due until after your purchase.

it's possible the filters were changed, but the car was serviced at the dealer @ approx 30 months or more, so I'll have to check w/ them or find my records. this dealer always performs the due maintenance and informs me of everything that is due, including oil changes etc. also, i'll have to check the in service date for the car. as it might have been already over 30 months when i purchased it.
