Had to have the car (2009 4.6 w/ tech) towed to the dealer last night after it stalled on the highway and wouldn't move much at all. I was thinking maybe a alternator / battery issue beings i haven't replaced the battery yet, but the dealer called this morning and said it was a bad fuel pump and that it would be replaced under warranty.
I picked up the car this afternoon and the service guy said he has never seen a genesis or any other hyundai's fuel pump fail or need replaced at 55k miles. he asked me where i purchased my fuel from and i told him usually sams. he said that you may be harming the fuel pump because supposedly, sams and costco gas has more alcohol in it.
i have swirtched between 91 and 87 octane at times , but mostly always running 91 as i think the car runs better and i can feel the increased hp.
Glad it happened before the 60k mark, as i'm sure the pump and labor would have been north of 600.00. still, not sure i want to keep the car after 60k w/o a warranty.
the car just came out of the shop 2 weeks ago for the brake recall, and warranty work w/ the steering wheel tilt failure and the remote entry / push start problems w/ the key remote. they gave me a camry rental car from hertz, for no cost, for the 3 days the car was there and they ended up replacing both remotes and replacing the module / switch for the steering wheel tilt. the transmission occasional knock and loss of power in 1st gear i used to get when flooring the pedal, they said was fine and they couldn't replicate it. i went with the tech w/ the test drive and told him i could replicate it, but he wouldn't let me try. he tried and floored it a couple of times to no avail- oh well.
overall i like this dealer and the level of service provided, just not sure i want to own this car past the warranty which is coming up in a few months.
